Boxing would not have grown on an app in the UK. The reason it grew so much is because it was on Sky Sports, where the other major sports are, so that created visibility. And because Hearn did a great job putting on events. It can't grow without visibility. If it had the same investment as DAZN, probably. Once DAZN starts doing UK fights you'll see a major shift as well, just like you did in the U.S.
You deflect whatever you want, and come up with excuses as much as you want but DAZN have been live for a year and are doing more and better shows than anyone else and have the best stable of the U.S 'camps'.
There's a reason for that.
Boxing in America became a niche sport once it was moved off broadcast tv onto pay TV. Now it's being moved off premium cable & tucked away to an app that gets lower ratings than ESPN news channel. Ramirez vs Hooker, a great fight, does nothing for the sport because nobody saw it.Comment

It has gone up and down in popularity, but the sport is a niche sport highly dependent on its fighters.
I'm all for cable tv, but PBC did that and realized it was a total catastrophe business wise, and Al Haymon basically wasted 600million and was sued by his investors.
He then came up with the brilliant idea of going back to PPVs
Couldn't make it up. The same platform that came out and said CABLE TV YALL now makes you believe that paying 90USD to watch a mismatch is a good idea

Yeah I'm Canadian. But that is irrelevant to my hypothetical question. You didn't answer my question or even understand what I'm asking but it's fine. It's not that important.I really just answered the question. ARE you in west bum****?! I don’t even believe you’re American. Your confusion here only supports my su****ion. Your account says Canada. I can repeat that it’s usually viewable at theaters for $20. In the words of many but most notably Bob Arum “Special ed doesn’t understand the American market...he’s ******” [paraphrasing]
Your question is one of those things that a core boxing fan in America innately would understand by now. I have family who very casually follow Boxing yet they’ve went to the theaters because it’s $20.Comment

The LDBC monitors they send on to the forums really need to be monitoring the levels or tardness they are allowing their foot soldiers to reach cuz now they are really starting to make fools of themselves.Comment

Just go to your local movie theaters website and search for an upcoming PPV. For example, type “Spence vs Porter” in the searchComment

Haha thanks but I live in a Canadian town of 22 thousand that is located on a friggin' island lol. I doubt they'd even do stuff like that in Vancouver, cause no one cares about boxing in Canada except for Montreal.
Was just kinda curious how accessible it is to people in the states in smaller towns, cause if you have to spend $40 on gas to get there for instance it quickly isn't as worth it anymore. Would be a much better environment to watch a fight in than a bar though.Comment

Well if it's true that everyone goes to the theatres and pays $20 then it generated $35 million, not the 130 in the opening post. But let's be honest, how many people are actually taking that option? I can't think of much worse than watching the big fights with a hundred random people.Exactly. DAZN isn’t worth the $240 a year they expect Americans to fork over. Canelo is the only draw there before him it was sinking and Special ed was backed against a wall. Golden Boy saved DAZN.
Boxing is like cell phones in America.
1. We get free fights- a vastly better deal than DAZN so I don’t no why brits keep mentioning expensive ass DAZN.
2. We get premium fights. That can be watched for $20 at the theaters depending on the promoter. Which is what you’d pay for DAZN. So I don’t get what strong suits their arguments have besides them worshipping edward over an app they themselves do not get.
But for the same price wouldn't you rather have a few mates over to yours, crack a few beers, watch the replay the next day and get another month of content?
Can't wait until DAZN comes to Australia. I'd love it to end Main Event PPVs.Comment
