I agree that Baldy going after Hatton or Floyd is a good move for Badly...but I was just highlighting Baldy's postfight interview as a way to illustrate the hardships Tony has faced in trying to get anyone who is seen as legit to fight him.

So did Mayweather officially duck Margarito now that it's over?

Floyd Mayweather is not a boxing robot. He was not created in a resarch facility near Arizona out of inhuman parts and created to war and fight forever. He is a human, a young guy, who has fought for most his life before ever being recognized as the pound for pound king. I think he might be able to beat Margarito. Other do not. Why, though, can't anyone see that, as a human being, the man wants to make some money from his career? As much money as possible? If you had struggled in obscurity for years and finally made it- would you not want the biggest paydays? Sure, some men want a legacy...but the average joe...wouldn't you want your hard work to pay off?
Mayweather may not be afraid of Margarito...he may just be obsessed with cashing in while he is on top. No one stays young forever and he may only have another half decade left in the tank. Why doesn't anyone ever try and personalize these guys as more than just fighting machines? I don't think it makes him a ***** to want more money, just a businessman first. I can't fault you if you want a fighter's heart, which he may not have, but he is just a man.

Originally posted by amagninAt that point in time he didn't deserve much. A guy coming off the only recognizable victory in his career against the (arguably) #1 p4p guy in the sport. Floyd would have wanted and deserved almost all of the money. Floyd would be carrying the PPV and all Baldomir would be bringing is a belt.

thats just dumb.

Originally posted by Super_LightweightThe reasoning for Tony getting to fight Floyd before Baldy is simple.
1) Tony has been considered an upper tier fighter at 147 for much longer.
2) Tony has offered the money that Baldy's camp simply cannot.
3) Wins over Gatti and Judah are no better combined than Lewis and Cintron.Last edited by Easy-E; 07-25-2006, 08:10 PM.
