But the total would have been lower than a Judah-Mayweather bout because Mayweather-Baldomir would not have been PPV. So it all depends on what the purse bid would have been. But my point is that regardless of belts etc. Baldomir did not deserve an even split. He was virtually unknown and the exposure itself would have been valuable.
rahman and maskaev(sp) is ppv, and you tryin to tell me Baldi and Judah wouldnt have,,they had a ppv date already set.
I understand your point about Spinks but still am not rationalizing your Margarito/Baldomir argument. Plenty of people criticize Floyd for not winning a real title at 140 or 147, and this will continue until he beats the RECOGNIZED champion of the division. At 147 both Margarito and Baldomir hold titles, but Baldomir is the recognized champ... and that is a fact. By beating Baldomir, he gets the legacy of having been the linear/recognized champ at 147. Plus the fight with Margarito can still be made after. In fact it makes more sense to fight him after to unify all of the titles at 147. What makes no sense is fighting Margarito now. Margarito has been in the welterweight division for years but somehow hasn't fought better competition than Floyd who has been in the division for a year. I rarely will complain about resumes but Margarito really is lacking. He can claim the champs ducked him, but what about all of the contenders that would gladly fight him. Williams called him out similarly to how he called Floyd out... is he ducking Williams. What about fighting former titlist Collazo or a hot prospect like Quintana. It is pretty easy to throw out a deal to the best fighter in the world... what is the worst that could happen? He accepts and you get a payday plus more exposure than ever before. Meanwhile what does Floyd get other than money he already has or can make more of?
Well Margarito is a title holder seeking recognition and higher accomplishment so he prefers to call out the number 1 p4p fighter in PBF. Margarito won't prove anything and won't get money fighting Quintana and Williams or the rest of the fighters rated below him, but since PBF won't fight him I guess Margarito has no choice but to fight all these fighters presenting themselves.
Right but Baldomir wanted more than a mil. He wanted an even or close to even split. If the purse was like 6 million or whatever it was then of course 1 mil would be more than fair. That is like Margarito-Mayweather level fair... lol.
Judah is chinny and a skilled boxer with power, like Lewis, except Lewis had more focus and Judah had more speed.
Gatti is a faded fighter and his war torn body is not equal to Cintron's at THIS point in his career. In the end it equals out. Plus, Margarito beat Cintron/Lewis more harshly than Baldy beat Gatti & Judah.

Oh I believe he will be proving something important. That his best win wasn't a product of media hype. It is not impossible that Cintron was simply overrated. On the other hand it is highly unlikely that 2 unrelated highly ranked prospects were both severely overestimated. You see what I mean?
Fight the true champion at 147, Baldomir, and be accused of ducking Margarito or fight Margarito and not be considered the true welterweight champion. Well, with Baldomir's win over Arturo Gatti, Mayweather now becomes the WBC #1 contender and should be next in line to challenge the true welterweight champion. I'm sure my friends at The Ring, ESPN and HBO would all agree that, for the good of boxing, Baldomir-Mayweather sould be the next big welterweight fight.
Sorry Margarito, The Truth can be hard to swallow, but it looks like you might have to get certain writers to find you a new opponent."
