Boy would that be the coup of the century if they wrote a contract that's not legally binding. Highly doubtful,but I guess it's within the realms of possibility. Ruiz could do whatever he wants if true.

I'm pretty sure daddy Hearn would have to take over, as screwing up your biggest cash cow would make almost any CEO have to resign.

As I said, I think the probability of an error is slightly above zero, but not by much, considering how much I'm sure he pays his legal team.

I like Ruiz, but this does smack of little cowardice, either that or he's just getting some really dumb advice.

"Not everything is correct in the contract" is a really odd way to phrase it, the contract is correct, it might not be what you want it to be or what Hearn is claiming it is, but the contract is what is signed and agreed.

That really sounds like "I don't like what is in the contract".

Does anyone think if the contract didn't give Hearn location choice Ruiz wouldn't have come straight out and said it by now, leaving aside yes it would have been crazy for a promoter for not to include that initially.

Ruiz is hilarious...Why would any lead promoter of the first fight give up complete control of the rematch in the contract when they are offering you the voluntary fight to begin with?


Ruiz just wants more money and the venue of his choosing...Hearn should just take him to court, win the case (because he will) and wreck his life.

Not everyone commenting is a fan boy, some of us just like seeing boxing and respect people who honour their word.

Also it doesn't take a genius to work out negotiation and leverage are most useful before you sign a legally binding contract. Not after.

Are people really cheerleading boxers to not honour rematch clauses they signed, so we only get in house match ups and mandatories from now on, is that what you really want?

Contractual disputes are rarely taken to court. It’s never gonna get that far and all Andy and his team are trying to do is probably squeeze more money out and maybe get the fight in US by playing a bit of hard ball. A court case is not helpful to either party and would end up probably benefiting other boxer in the division. If Andy is stripped(the belts can’t be held hostage through a legal dispute) those belts will be fought over by the likes of Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte(If he can get through the whole did she didn’t she pop the test)

Andy doesn’t necessarily have to go to SA particularly if US is advising it’s citizen against travelling to that country Ruiz has a strong case to not travel. The likelihood is that Hearn will probably have to be flexible in some way to get the fight over the line in SA. Hearn can’t really dig his heels in as the legal battle will only hurt his golden goose.
