Regarding Golovkin. A verbal agreement in front of witnesses may hold up in court. I don't think he's expecting them to deliver Canelo. He's asking that they facilitate him getting a title holder in the ring so he has a crack at a champion. Canelo said get a belt so maybe Golovkin is trying to do just that. What's been happening with Canelo is very public but any developments with Golovkin have been under wraps.Lol, sad when this could have very well happened. But honestly, Skipper is legit so no surprise he got something in writing, just didn't figure that Canelo agreed to what GBP apparently agreed to.
Networks really can't sign deals guaranteeing a fighter a certain fight. You can't put it in a fighter's contract and DAZN was well aware of that and that's why they went around it by getting GBP to agree to it and not Canelo himself. But the same would apply for GGG. He couldn't have had it in his contract either...Or you would think right? So what exact legal action is he taking now? Feels like something was either misstated in that article or some details are missing.Comment

Canelo gonna eventually leave GBP...Im not suprised. But i am suprised how personal he taking the situation with GGG. He needs to understand everyone knows he lost that first fight including him. So why be suprised tgat 3rd fight was being pushed.Comment

The thing is, DAZN knows they can't force Canelo to fight anyone. That is not legal. They signed the agreement through GBP. I don't see any legal way GBP can force Canelo to the trilogy here. Simply put, they just thought they would be able to convince Canelo to take this fight and it backfired. GBP were desperate and needed this to probably get their own deal so they went for it despite Canelo telling them not to do it.Depends what language is in the GBP-Canelo promotional contract. It is not uncommon for the promoter to have a signed power of attorney with the fighter. And if GBP has that power of attorney, then they have the legal right to bind Canelo to whatever deal they signed.
Will be interesting to see how this all plays out........Comment

I mean sure he would get paid more for the Canelo fight than any other fight. And he may not quite reach the 100M mark, but even if he gets paid Rolls money the rest of the way, he gets close to that mark. You are paying GGG 10M+ every fight regardless of who he fights, and the figure is likely closer to the 15M mark. If he's not bringing in any subscribers like against Rolls, then that is just point blank a horrendous deal. And really looking at the MW landscape and even the SMW landscape at DAZN, I don't see many game changing fights involving GGG. Maybe the Jacobs rematch does decent for DAZN, but what else? Andrade? Nope. Smith? Nope. BJS? Nope.
DAZN put its eggs all in one basket. They NEED the trilogy.Comment

Having a deal in the contract to enforce a title shot is different than guaranteeing Canelo. So yeah, if what he is trying to enforce now is the Dereyanchenko fight for the vacant IBF title? That works.Regarding Golovkin. A verbal agreement in front of witnesses may hold up in court. I don't think he's expecting them to deliver Canelo. Can't blame the diva for not knowing what the *** he's doin.
Dude wasn't no genius before getting hit in the head over 200 times in the Golovkin fights.
Only thing the diva knows for sure is he don't want to fight Golovkin again.

Wouldn't the same have applied to Wilder? Only got paid the 80 million if he fought Joshua twice, but there was no way DAZN could force Joshua to fight him?
This Canelo situation makes it more understandable of why Wilder didn't want to sign a long term DAZN deal and only wanted to sign for a Joshua fight.Comment

Unlike Canelo, Wilder's trainers aren't his managers. He's working with professional boxing people who know wtf is going onWouldn't the same have applied to Wilder? Only got paid the 80 million if he fought Joshua twice, but there was no way DAZN could force Joshua to fight him?
