Why Floyd will NEVER truly get credit for beating Canelo...

Canelo was a kid at a fresh 23 years old, and he weighed 152lbs, a brutal catcweight that will ALWAYS come with the fight...It's historical baggage you can't erase.

No one likes catchweights. Not when Pac was doing it, not when May did it to Canelo, not ever. It's trash and we all know it.

    Floyd beating Canelo is like...

...Like saying you're rich, but you won the lotto.

or you have a new lamborghini, but your dad bought it for you.

or you lost 200lbs...but you did it through surgery.

Or you won miss America...but had a lot of plastic surgery to do it.

or you're Hector Camacho and you just beat Sugar Ray Leonard...but Sugar Ray was old and washed up.

or you beat Canelo, but he was green and it was at a catchweight.

Ya feel me? This is why it will always come with an asterisk.

    A quote below from Canelo:

"I wouldn't do that. But when the (fight) negotiations started, they wanted me to go to 147. I said that's physically impossible. I couldn't do it. Then they inched up to 150. I said I can't do it, that's impossible. Those days are over. I can't make that weight anymore, I've grown.

"Then they went up to 151. And then finally, so we could make the fight, I said, 'If anything, I'll give up two pounds. I'll go up to 152. I agreed to that. Then they tried to force me to be quiet and not to mention anything that they came up with the weight of 152. And that's why ... I haven't said anything until now."

You really think an extra couple pounds would have changed anything?

Floyd took him to school. Plain and simple. Canelo very nearly got shut out in that fight.

Just let it go. It doesn't take away from anything Canelo accomplished before or after that.

it wasn't a couple of pounds in the ring. It was more like 6-7 pounds and yes, it might have.

Those extra pounds weren't going to make Canelo smarter, faster, more experienced, or more technical.

He wasn't competitive at all. Not in any aspect of the fight.

Floyd should have done the fight without it, but he didn't and now we'll never know the answer.

Like I said, it will always be tainted.

He gets full credit from everyone whose opinion matters, and anyone who pretends otherwise is just showing their ignorance.

              It's not tainted.

Canelo couldn't hit Floyd, Floyd could hit Canelo at will.

That's the long and short of it. Canelo could have come in at middleweight and it wouldn't have mattered.

                This is straight from Canelo.

I've been able to make the weight in the past without a problem,” Alvarez said. “In fact, in my most recent fights I've been under on the day of the weigh-in. I really don't do that much work, so I think that it's going to be fine. I feel very, very good right now, and in fact, I think it's going to help me. I'm going to be a lot faster.”

I don't see a two pound difference helping Canelo. He got completely dominated. Catchweights for titles is BS..

Y’all are doing your best to dis credit mayweather. Coincidentally There has been a ton of people discrediting the canelo win recently because they know it’s trumps Pacs thurman win so they want to get rid of it to put manny on top.

So if mayweather lost at 23 would it not count because he was 23 years old lol. O how soon people forget canelo was calling Floyd out and Floyd was getting called a coward if he don’t fight canelo because manny was taking out of the picture with the Marquez KO.

Plus mayweather and canelo had damn near the same amount of professional fights when they fought.

Floyd is not really a 154 pounder Canelo was just recently getting ready to fight kovalev a light heavy weight lol. so if floyd was to rematch canelo today do you think it would not be fair for him to get a catch weight?

It's just hypocritical when Floyd said Cotto was technically still undefeated because he fought Pacquiao with a Catch-weight.

But yeah man...idk why the fight was a Catch-weight, both were champions at the time in the same weight class
