Common sense would tell anyone (bigdunny) that if DAZN hit that number they'd be yelling from the rooftops. They even admitted they're only going to release the good numbers. This would be a good number.
Post a link anywhere of DAZN saying we will only release "good numbers" or a promise to update the public when they hit 1M? They didn't release statements when they passed 1M subscribers in other countries they are in and they never said they would for the US. And neither does these other streaming services they release info cryptic when they want and this goes for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime, Spotify etc. You keep this charade up that if they don't release viewership numbers and subscription numbers every week and personally give YOU an update then the numbers must be bad. No info isn't a sign of good or bad news it's just how these private companies operate they don't have to and it's a strategic advantage to not release private data.

But so far the most creditable source to report their subscription numbers is Bloomberg who reported they are at 1.2M subscribers sorry if that kills your narrative. lol

HBO Exec said weeks before Canelo/Jacobs they were close to 1M subscribers. DAZN own CEO basically admitted this saying he planned on passing 1M subscribers by June. And Bloomberg reported that now in July they are at 1.2M subscribers.

I will take the word of Execs, the company CEO and Bloomberg!

Unlike linear television channels, monitored in the U.S. by Nielsen Media Research, there isn’t an independent auditor that tracts viewership of streaming services. A source familiar with DAZN’s U.S. business indicated, however, that the Alvarez-Jacobs bout was watched via in excess of 600,000 concurrent streams in the United States.

That data would indicate that DAZN has at least 600,000 subscribers in the United States who’ve signed up for at least one month.
Ok Dunny. Riddle me this. Canelo/Fielding was the highest watched show on DAZN before Canelo/Jacobs. Many of those were free subs according to Skipper, that's why they ended the free trial. He said Canelo/Fielding brought in hundreds of thousands of subs. We also know barely half stuck around.

Alvarez’s inaugural fight with DAZN in December drove hundreds of thousands of people to sign up for the service, but barely half of them stuck around beyond the one-month free trial to pay the $9.99 monthly rate. More than 90% of customers who cancelled the service said another Alvarez fight is what would get them to pay.In response, DAZN launched a new pricing plan to fix the retention issue. Free trials in the U.S. are no longer offered and the monthly rate has doubled to $19.99. DAZN introduced a $100 yearly plan, which is a fraction of what two Canelo PPV fights would have typically cost. “We are trying to drive people to a yearlong subscription,” says Skipper. “If you figure out a way to get people to buy for a year, you have 100% retention for the year.”

We know Canelo vs. Jacobs was watched by about 700k in the U.S. & 1.2 mil worldwide according to DAZN press release. So if barely half stuck around from December that means they were around the high tens of thousands to low hundreds of thousands in January.

How did they go from the low hundreds of thousands in January to close to a million in April? What events made them more than double the Canelo/Fielding numbers? What was causing hundreds of thousands of people to suddenly sign up?

In December they had no content and fighters they just phuking launched for phuk sake. They had no WBSS tournament was on hold, Golden boy deal didn't even start until mid January, they didn't even sign GGG until March, they didn't have MLB Red zone show, and tons of other fighters who signed in 2019 weren't fighting yet. And you completely ignore MMA they have bellator and other MMA leagues and events. They have soccer and other smaller sports that bring in subscriptions too. They have more context is the answer no shyt they had a big turnover of subscribers who signed up for free then left after the Fielding fight because they had no fights and other content to keep fans. Now they have about 10x the boxing content alone on demand recent and classic fights library, live fights every week with more world champs and p4p ranked fighters then any other network and you had to actually pay to see canelo/Jacobs they didn't give it away for free. And when they sold you they pushed the 1 year $99 price. Half the top P4p ranking is now on DAZN and 3 of the biggest draws in boxing. If you are a boxing fan you are not yoyo'ing or cancelling after Canelo fights now.

It doesn't have to make sense to a hater like you. What we do know is a HBO Exec said they were close to 1M subscribers weeks before the Jacobs fight, the CEO of DAZN confirmed that and said they planned on passing 1M subscribers by June and Bloomberg reported they are now at 1.2M subscribers

The MLB baseball show has been a disaster so that doesn't account for a surge in subs from January to April that got them from the low hundreds of thousands to near a million as you claim

DAZN’s “RedZone-Like” MLB Show a “Complete Dud”, Makes Similar NBA/NHL Programming Unlikely

Sports by Brooks and Front Office Sports reported that DAZN is interested in producing live NBA and NHL whiparound shows (think: NFL RedZone) as they’ve done with MLB, but sources tell JohnWallStreet that “ChangeUp has been a complete dud. While the show is well produced, it simply hasn’t driven new subs as hoped.” The decision to invest in ChangeUp – “a particularly costly way of getting into business with the league” – was said to be “mainly [executive chairman John] Skipper’s”, so we’ve heard that “there’s now a sense of vindication within the building among those who had opposed it.” The perception exists that with NBA and NHL whiparound shows bound to experience a similar fate, “unless John is making decisions unilaterally, DAZN won’t be making the same mistake again.”

So you're telling me Tevin Farmer, Andrade, Big Baby Miller, Vargas, Munguia, and some WBSS fights aired in the afternoon feat non-American fighters (sans Regis who fight didn't even sell 1000 tickets) were all able to generate over double the subs Canelo did???

You have no clue what their subscribers were to start after the Fielding's fight and they added 10x the boxing content and other content overall. And pretend none of this increases subscribers over time but this is the same guy who said DAZN doesn't even have 200K subscribers as recent as April/may which we know is lie because DAZN had 700k live viewers watch the canelo/Jacobs fight in May so at minimum if you are dumb enough to believe that baseball, Bellator, soccer and every other sports and content on DAZN doesn't bring in a single subscriber who doesn't care about boxing? and that every subscriber who likes boxing watched at the same time live even though the beauty of streaming apps like DAZN is you can watch on your time live, 1 hour later, the next morning whenever is convenient for you. Hell if you count just canelo fans that have a DAZN subscription but we're watching the fight live in Vegas or at a fight party that's probably in the 10's of thousands.

It's almost impossible to have just 700k subscribers in May unless you had every subscriber live. I know thats not true because I went to a fight party so I wasn't watching Jacobs fight live with my subscription. The fact is HBO Exec said in April they we're close to 1M subscribers, the CEO of DAZN confirmed this and said the goal is to have 1M subscribers by June, and Bloomberg reported they are in July at 1.2M subscribers.

Who do I believe you OR Execs, the CEO of DAZN and Bloomberg? This is a tough one lol

You expect us to believe hundreds of thousands of subs signed up from January to April but there was nothing driving those subs. They even had to raise the price and end the free trial.

I roll with GODnelo in his beef with DAZN, but on the real I’ve been unhappy with DAZN since before that news.

The GODnelo fights are good value of course. Other than that DAZN has had that Estrada vs. Rungvisai II card, the Joshua vs. Ruiz card, the Cancio vs. Machado II card, the Vargas vs. Kameda card (the main event was terrible) and that’s it. Then they have the Ramirez vs. Hooker card coming up.

Everything else DAZN has is absolute s**t. Nobody cares about their European bum fight cards or their baseball talk show.

Again you have no clue how many subscribers they had in January and keep ignoring them adding significantly more content which duh drives subscribers. We don't even know if they they didn't hit 1M during the canelo fight. We do know HBO Exec and DAZN CEO weeks apart went on record about the subscribers. In April many fans already signed for Canelo fight which was May 5 so if you wanted to see the canelo fight you needed to sign up for at a monthly subscription anytime from April 5-may 5. HBO executive said they were close to 1M subscribers on 4/28.

Here you go again making shyt up they didn't increase the price they created 2 ways to subscribe that saved me and many others money by creating a incentive to subscribe for 1 year for 8 bucks a month cheaper then 10 bucks a month which it was before. And forced anyone who wanted to just watch canelo and then cancel to pay 20 bucks thats the reason for the price change which didn't effect someone who is still grandfathered in at 10 bucks a month until March 2020 so the change wouldn't effect current subscribers you either save money or stayed the same. If in April they were close to 1M that's with many subscribing early to see canelo. According to HBO Exec and the DAZN CEO you don't need many more subscribers from April to July to get to 1.2M subscribers like Bloomberg says they are today.
