Top Rank wants Wilder-Fury II this fall

Wilder's camp wants to rematch Ortiz first. Risky decision by Wilder.

If Top Rank had its way the rematch between lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and world titlist Deontay Wilder would take place this fall, but because Wilder representatives have told Top Rank they have a commitment to Wilder first facing Luis Ortiz in a rematch, likely in November, the Fury fight wouldn’t take place until the first quarter of 2020, sources with knowledge of the conversations told ESPN. If Wilder is contractually obligated to an Ortiz rematch, which is unclear, or he simply wants to fight Ortiz again before a Fury sequel, Top Rank will arrange a fall fight for Fury, according to the sources.

I’d much rather see the rematch this year and then the winners of that and Ruiz-Joshua fight next year

Didnt Top Rank prevent the fight from happening in May and said they wanted fury to have two tune up fights, then revisit the fight early 2020?

Lmao now they are trying to spin the narrative to make themselves look better. Classic Top rank tricks

This is Haymon paying Ortiz back for turning down the fight with AJ. Wilder won't have any choice about it.

Top Rank is wise. They can now see the handwriting on the wall. Team Wilder is losing and no longer is interested in a Fury rematch at this time. They want an undisputed Heavyweight championship bout with Andy Ruiz, Jr instead.

That's why Top Rank is attempting to move that rematch up as early as possible; Most likely in the early Fall of this year because the Tyson rematch won't happen until late Spring of 2020 at the very earliest. So Top Rank wants to rematch Wilder now before they can rematch Ortiz in November or in the late Fall.

They better hope that Ruiz wins the rematch with AJ, because that's the only way for Wilder and Ruiz to fight for the undisputed title.

They are confident that their man would once again be victorious against AJ. Joshua needs more time to develop and correct his mistakes.

In addition, Ruiz is the more fundamentally sound of the two with a much better amateur pedigree. Also, he is the more scientific and technical of the two fighters as well.

Joshua on the other hand, is not as well rounded or as complete of a fighter as we once believed. He has many holes and flaws in his game which needs to be corrected before he rematches Andy Ruiz, Jr.

Silly comment there ... AJ won World Championship silver and Olympic gold as an amateur. He has the best amateur pedigree in the HW division, by a long way.

I wish the rematch between Wilder and Fury was next but Fury seems to be putting it off. Meanwhile I think Wilder defending his title against Ortiz is a good thing. Wilder is the champ and he should fight top 5 contenders like Ortiz. Too many of his title defenses have been against guys not even in the top 20. I think he will KO Ortiz again without getting hurt himself. Wilder seems to still be improving even at his old age of 33. This is a good fight to keep him sharp for Fury. I think he will KO Fury if the rematch happens. He almost knocked Fury out last fight. He just needs to throw more punches and more hard jabs and start faster. Sooner or later the big right should land flush for him. I don't think Fury is training that hard. He shoul be getting lighter but he was fat last fight. I think Wilder should set a fast pace in the rematch.

I don’t think it’s to make themselves look better. It’s because they know if AJ loses to Ruiz again, then all those belts will be under Haymon fighters and it’ll be a Ruiz v Wilder unification fight. So they want to get that fight in before Ruiz v AJ.

If Ruiz wins again, Fury will be frozen out for a while. He won’t be getting that Wilder fight anytime soon, or Ruiz because they will end up fighting each other.

Fury should be hoping AJ wins, if he wants the Wilder fight.
