At this point, you need a flow chart to distinguish which belt ranks higher than the others out of World, Silver, Silver Interim, Pearl, Diamond, Franchise, and Emeritus. This **** is becoming a joke.

Every boxing news outlet should just ignore the franchise belt and just refer to canelo as the wbc champ as long as he doesnt permanently move up.
WBC (or WBA with their shenanigans) are only given power, because they get legitimise by the promoters and the boxing media.

Last time the WBC ordered Canelo to fight his mandatory challenger he responded by condemning them as corrupt - for following their rules - relinquishing his WBC title, and vowing never to fight for it again.

This is the WBC's way of making sure nothing like that happens again.

actually no cuz the wilder-fury fight was technically a draw and they went and gave fury the "win" anyway in their rankings.

now if the fight was something like chavez vs whitaker then I would understand but it was nothing like that robbery.

If Joshua beats Ruiz and Wilder beats Ortiz, it will likely be Fury and Wilder at #1 and #2 heading into their rematch anyway. They'll settle it in the ring and the winner will be the lineal champion.

So let's break this down for the simpletons. Wbc contacted team Canelo and said, hey, Charlo has been the mandatory for quite some time. Any chance Canelo faces Charlo soon? Team Canelo says, nope, no chance, we're going in another direction. Wbc president says, damn, last time we tried to enforce a mandatory on Canelo that he didn't want to face, he threw a hissy fit, gave us back our belt and wouldn’t even entertain fighting for our piñata belt that we created for his fight with Chavez Jr. We don't really want to lose out on those pay days. Let's give him this pretend forever title just to keep him happy, award our mandatory challenger the actual title and everyone will be happy. The end.
