Although it will never happen, someone should seize this opportunity to invest heavily in the WBSS. Make it as lucrative as possible for the top boxers to get involved and have a Muhammed Ali trophy for each weight class. This would guarantee consistent best v best tourneys, say every two years, and promote the s**t out of the trophy to the point where everyone, including the casuals, see it as the one major title in the division. Alphabet title holders can take care of business between tournaments, and the natural evolution would see the alphabets becoming nothing more than a gateway or qualifier for the WBSS, with those not having a belt entering the tournament on merit from what they achieve in the "off season". The format is there already, someone with the funds and the balls should run with it, and give the alphabets a big f**k you on the way past.
Trust the World Bumfighting Council to secure it's status as a premier bogus corrupt organisation. In the words of Al Pacino, somebody needs to take a flamethrower to that place and burn it own to the ground.
That's why lineal championship is the most important title in boxing. The man who beat the man! Lineal champion = genuine champion or legitimate champion.
In somewhat related news, I paid a small sanctioning fee and was named the WBC "Jelly Donut" belt Middleweight champion. It's a great honor and achievement in my life.
Hope they put a bunch of extra notches on that one. Them jelly doughnuts can wreak havoc on your midsection

1 Champion per division. No interim titles. Well done.
The WBC is supposed to be the most prestigious title? Well this is proof that that is a complete lie

I've been said, the IBF/NABF and IBO are the only org doing anything by the old school rules. WBC gets hype because everyone goes for them for some damn reason.
WBO seems be okay, but that's the Top Rank belt, so
yea I agree with that, but the problem with the IBF is..... they are too trigger-happy, and their rankings are shlt.....
...... so when they pull the trigger too early, like they did with Fury..... we end up with Glazkov vs Martin
the following scenario could turn out to be true.....
1) they may have stripped the best heavyweight on the planet..... 2) the current IBF champ may not be one of the two best heavyweights on the planet..... 3) the original guy they stripped could have his hands on that title within the next 12-18 months.....
.... which would make the IBF look pretty silly in hindsight
People are acting as if this is some sort of surprise from the WBC.
They create belts on a weekly basis for christ sake.
The IBF ranks guys you've never heard of in their top 5 but at least they only have 1 title and they make guys defend the belt or turn it in.
Boxing would be a much better sport if there were only 1 title per division but we'll never see that again.
They create belts on a weekly basis that are just typically one off belts to commemorate that specific event. It’s corny when they do it so often, but I don’t have an issue with it. This is a new title.
