It’s hard to sell a fight which is expected to be one sided and has literally no undercard of any level at all.

The Ortiz rematch should do better but they will also need something on the undercard. I mean People criticise Eddie Hearn but people know when going to matchroom events there will be several decent matchups. The likes of Whyte Chisora 1 for example was on the undercard of an AJ fight. Why didn’t Showtime have Kownacki for example as an undercard for Wilder?

Kownacki is returning in June or July on FOX.

And if we're being honest, the Joshua UC is far from good. Hearn has plenty of dud UCs on DAZN.

The A side is selling majority of the tickets. What they could have done is put a local decent New Yorker on the UC. But 13k is about expected for this card.

Looked liked they packed in a decent Crowd...

Was A LOT of Empty Seats during Russell Jr fight because people was likely in the Bars and Lounges in the Barclay Center watching NBA Playoffs Game until the Main Event Started

With that being said...It is a Attendance and Viewership issue for boxing here in America IN GENERAL! The Popularity of this sport In General seems to be going in the wrong direction as a whole. People would rather watch UFC than boxing and most certainly will watch NBA Playoffs over boxing any day

However, the Viral Moments like that Knockout is great for the sport and it grabs the attention of the Casual Sport fan Instantly and make them curious

This Video Clip on Twitter now up to 8 Million Views...

Attendance is down everywhere in boxing. It's a niche sport. There's hardly any boxing venues that sellout anymore. I hear there are still tickets available for the Joshua/Ruiz, Jr. fight.

Besides, Dominic Breazeale was a mandatory challenger anyway. So therefore, there was not this huge outcry or public demand for this fight in the first place because no one knew who Breazeale was. The bout was mandated by the WBC sanctioning body.

Yet he still hasn't sold out the venue though. There are still tickets remaining

So either they sold 3-5K tickets after they started letting people in OR they just gave the rest of the tickets away and started letting people in for free. The latter is more likely. If they really did sell tickets they will be releasing live gate figures which tell you exactly how much money it generated and exactly how many tickets were actually sold. If PBC doesn't release the live gate it's because likely half those tickets were given for free.
Doesn't all promoters give away tickets in order to inflate attendance; Since most boxing revenue in the states comes from television through licensing fees as opposed to the U.K. Where the majority of their revenue comes from the live gate because their television audience is much smaller than the states because they have a much smaller population.

Boxing fans always got something negative to say it's really rather sad

I just flew back from the fight. I love HW fights. Won't get to see the Joshua one though since I'm traveling for business that week already.

I'm not sure where you're getting your facts from. Perhaps they gave them away but I don't think so. No one in the section around us was talking about free tickets. They weren't hard to obtain but the scalpers outside weren't giving them away either.

Yeah and some are more blantant then others. But when a fight sells out or sell a lot of tickets the promoter and venue can't wait to release the live gate figures and celebrate it. When neither the promoter or venue releases it it's because the attendance is inflated but you don't see it as bad as some of the PBC fights. Remember when they first launched they literally paid agency firms to hire crowd fillers, on some talk show shyt where they paid you to show up and clap lol

This venue was configured to only hold 12-13K attendance and when the doors opened and Ticketmaster had to stop selling tickets there were still at minimum 3-5K tickets unsold on the website. They didn't sell 3-5K while the card was going on. lol They clearly just gave away a insane amount of tickets just to fill seats. No big deal it's not like they claiming a sell out Barclays holds almost 20K. But it's just funny that PBC didn't want Wilder embarrassed so they gave that many tickets away for a fight that was verified all week and moments before the doors opened no movement in ticket sales. They probably damn near doubled their attendance from actual ticket sales to seats they gave away for free. lol

If you actually sold 13K seats that's pretty good and Barclays and PBC would release the live gate. When they dont it's because the money they made is low because they didn't sell anywhere near 13K tickets.
