You can call it lineal if you want, but in a lot of cases the best guy didn't even have the lineal title so the title itself is not that important...

I'm consistent. I don't consider Floyd a 5 division champ because he didn't beat the top guy at 140.

Yeah but for better or worse that's the way it's done now. There are so many sanctioning bodies, divisions and multiple title holders in each division it's easier to get a title. Then throw in catchweight fights which for titles are a joke and it gets crazy. Then on the flip side, in the past was the title holder always the best guy in the division. Maybe it's someone ranked in the top five who never had a crack at the title. The whole concept presently is a marketing gimmick IMO.
