You're absolutely right, but he was a champion at that time and was garenteed huge paydays any direction he took. ortiz is in a much different position. He's not champ, plus he's not making huge paydays. Joshua is right on this one. Ortiz is practically no one that's up there in age. Why not take the opportunity to make a career high payday, and also, which is more important than the actual payday because it could lead to much bigger ones, a chance to get 4 out of the 5 main titles. That's what every fighter wishes for. I'm sure he's kicking himself over this. Imagine if he somehow would've beaten Joshua. The negotiation power he now has in a rematch with wilder is a much better one.

Ortiz was offered 0.5 million more than Miller. Some reports had Miller missing out more but that involved Miller fighting two additional fights that was not in the Louis offer though Hearn did include that in an alternative offer, the issue being Louis being PBC and might not be able to accept the additional fights.

He's absolutely right but only if you allow manufactured false facts. Luis Ortiz himself claimed Ready. Quote "I could be ready for Anthony Joshua". Only speculation was who stopped it but the reason was always the same surrounding a "low-ball offer" and not a word about training camp. Training camp never entered the picture, money and only money did. The training camp excuse came up days and weeks later by some fan in contrary to what Ortiz himself said over and over.

My understanding is that together with all cuts he's lucky if he gets 4 mill and a possible rematch with Ortiz and Fury. He could stand to make more because the feeling at the PBC is that a loss to Joshua stops the money train.
