The problem is not getting customers on DAZN. It's keeping them. They have the super series, but what happens when it's over? Yeah they got Canelo, Jacobs, Boo Boo, Saunders, and Trip G. But they are not all going to fight each at once which means there will be some ugly fights in between. This is a simple supply and demand from DAZN. If the customers begin to increase and the demand is there, they WILL raise the prices. That's what happened with PPV. My first ppy was Holyfield-Foreman for a whopping 19.99. The demand got bigger as (and Oscar led the charge) and so did the price. DAZN will be no different. ESPN plus doesn't need to raise prices. It cost 4.99, but they have over 2 million subscribers. There OVERALL content is much better than DAZN's.

It's already dying and only a matter of time until it's dead. Everything is changing with streaming and the PPV model just doesn't make sense anymore. The last PPV star was Canelo. Canelo was doing 1M PPV buys but outside him the last 3 PPVs in the sport combined did less then 1M PPVs. And laughing at someone saying we need to hold on to PPV because how else will those fights with top rival networks get made? We aren't getting those fights anyway. What's the last PPV fight that got made with the top guy from rival networks? What Floyd/Pacman? Before that what Lewis/Tyson? Instead these are the fights that are being made where fans are being forced to pay almost 100 bucks a PPV
ESPN PPV - Crawford/Khan
FOX PPV - Spence/Garcia
Showtime PPV - Pacquaio/Broner
combined none did Canelo numbers and none of these fights were ones fans demanded or asked for, all were massive mismatches on paper, and all ended up playing out as pointless mismatched fights in the ring. Those are the fights that are going to PPV these days because Networks don't want to pay the fighters so they are passing the bill to fans. Meanwhile Canelo the last true PPV star in the biggest fight of the year against a top guy in a true 50/50 fight that fans actually demanded is going to cost you 19.99 for 1 month subscription where you get the Canelo fight and Joshua and other fights for that month. Or cost you roughly the price of 1 PPV and you get all the fights on DAZN for the next 12 months including at minimum 2 Canelo fights, 2 GGG fights, 2 Joshua fights and all the other world champs DAZN currently has.
If you a boxing fan you just paid almost 300 bucks on PPVs this year alone not including all the money you paid to get ESPN, Showtime, FS1, ESPN+ and then had to pay close to 300 bucks on top of that? Or 99 bucks a year for more boxing content then any of the other boxing networks are providing? If you a boxing fan and hating on DAZN and screaming no please keep charging me almost 100 bucks for Crawford/Khan and Spence/Garcia you have an agenda and aren't a boxing fan.Last edited by bigdunny1; 05-02-2019, 10:57 AM.

I'd bet Wilder/Joshua would EASILY surpass the 500k mark, but that fight is unlikely to be on PPV. Let's see who, if anyone emerges as the next PPV star. There are PPVs out there that would do 500k+ buys.

I just really think the issue with PPV is the quality of fights. DAZN IMO isn't replacing PPV it's replacing HBO WCB and BAD. I definitely want to watch the fights they put on.
IMO while Canelo/Jacobs on DAZN is a bargain, having to pay even $9.99 for Canelo/Fielding type fights is too much.

I guess they already sorta do that now except ESPN+ is Showtime and ESPN in FOX.

“Dazzun” (and no I don’t accept that DAZN translates to “Da Zone”, which sounds equally as ****** anyway...)
