The problem is not getting customers on DAZN. It's keeping them. They have the super series, but what happens when it's over? Yeah they got Canelo, Jacobs, Boo Boo, Saunders, and Trip G. But they are not all going to fight each at once which means there will be some ugly fights in between. This is a simple supply and demand from DAZN. If the customers begin to increase and the demand is there, they WILL raise the prices. That's what happened with PPV. My first ppy was Holyfield-Foreman for a whopping 19.99. The demand got bigger as (and Oscar led the charge) and so did the price. DAZN will be no different. ESPN plus doesn't need to raise prices. It cost 4.99, but they have over 2 million subscribers. There OVERALL content is much better than DAZN's.

Because t doesn’t grow the sport in the USA to relegate it to an app only approach. Canelo was far more relevant in the mainstream when he was fighting on hbo. The average sports fan can’t stble onto a boxing match if it’s on an app. The app only approach is designed to squeeze all available revenue out of the Di hards in a month to mo th contract. I understood perfectly what the OP was saying....particularly if ESPN, showtime, and fox leave the market and we are stuck with an app only. If you want to kill boxing in the USA make it app only

It's already dying and only a matter of time until it's dead. Everything is changing with streaming and the PPV model just doesn't make sense anymore. The last PPV star was Canelo. Canelo was doing 1M PPV buys but outside him the last 3 PPVs in the sport combined did less then 1M PPVs. And laughing at someone saying we need to hold on to PPV because how else will those fights with top rival networks get made? We aren't getting those fights anyway. What's the last PPV fight that got made with the top guy from rival networks? What Floyd/Pacman? Before that what Lewis/Tyson? Instead these are the fights that are being made where fans are being forced to pay almost 100 bucks a PPV

        ESPN PPV - Crawford/Khan
        FOX PPV - Spence/Garcia
        Showtime PPV - Pacquaio/Broner

combined none did Canelo numbers and none of these fights were ones fans demanded or asked for, all were massive mismatches on paper, and all ended up playing out as pointless mismatched fights in the ring. Those are the fights that are going to PPV these days because Networks don't want to pay the fighters so they are passing the bill to fans. Meanwhile Canelo the last true PPV star in the biggest fight of the year against a top guy in a true 50/50 fight that fans actually demanded is going to cost you 19.99 for 1 month subscription where you get the Canelo fight and Joshua and other fights for that month. Or cost you roughly the price of 1 PPV and you get all the fights on DAZN for the next 12 months including at minimum 2 Canelo fights, 2 GGG fights, 2 Joshua fights and all the other world champs DAZN currently has.

If you a boxing fan you just paid almost 300 bucks on PPVs this year alone not including all the money you paid to get ESPN, Showtime, FS1, ESPN+ and then had to pay close to 300 bucks on top of that? Or 99 bucks a year for more boxing content then any of the other boxing networks are providing? If you a boxing fan and hating on DAZN and screaming no please keep charging me almost 100 bucks for Crawford/Khan and Spence/Garcia you have an agenda and aren't a boxing fan.

No it's not! the problem with making this comparison is ESPN+ is not a stand alone service. It's a addition. meaning you already need to pay for a cable service bundle that includes ESPN since half their fights are NOT on ESPN+. Some times you have the undercard on ESPN+ then have to jump to ESPN for the main card. Some times you have the undercard on ESPN but then have to jump to ESPN+ just for the main event fight. And sometimes like a few weeks ago you have half the undercard on ESPN+, then the other half on ESPN2 then have to pay 70 bucks for the remaining of the card on ESPN PPV. ESPN costs you about about 40-50 bucks a month with a cable/satellite package. Then 4.99 a month just for the few fights that are actually on ESPN+ then you still have to pay 70 bucks a PPV. By the end of the year you are spending way more money then just 4.99 a month. Meanwhile DAZN costs 99 for 12 months everything included all the undercards, all the main events, any big fight is not a additional PPV cost. And look at DAZN's schedule and ESPN's schedule. DAZN has more fights at a lower cost you will spend

I'd bet Wilder/Joshua would EASILY surpass the 500k mark, but that fight is unlikely to be on PPV. Let's see who, if anyone emerges as the next PPV star. There are PPVs out there that would do 500k+ buys.
To add to that, Mayweather and Canelo were built on hbo/showtime, which is far more accessible to the casual fan and the sports fan than an app that features no other sport that the American fight fan is interested in. Americans could care less about soccer and darts

I just really think the issue with PPV is the quality of fights. DAZN IMO isn't replacing PPV it's replacing HBO WCB and BAD. I definitely want to watch the fights they put on.

IMO while Canelo/Jacobs on DAZN is a bargain, having to pay even $9.99 for Canelo/Fielding type fights is too much.
Canelo fielding shouldn’t have been made period because fielding wasn’t a real champion but if that level of fight is to be made then it should have been premium or basic cable or free tv. I really think dazn should have gone with a network option. You can’t build boxing up and build boxing stars on an app that no one has. Canelo, ggg, wilder (since he was offered a hefty contract) were built on cable and free tv. We are all going to see how Devin Haney while ultra talented will not become a mainstream sports star via dazn

                Disney+ is already out?

Yeah I agree. If ESPN had the PBC, they could put fights like Hurd vs Williams on ESPN. Wilder vs Breazeale on ESPN+ and Wilder vs Fury/AJ on ppv.

I guess they already sorta do that now except ESPN+ is Showtime and ESPN in FOX.

I see your hate for DAZN has blinded you from the change that will come in the near Future! So you're willing pay $70-$100 per ppv 5-10 times per year than pay $100 per year? Manny/Broner, Spence/Garcia, Wilder/Fury, & Crawford/Khan didn't belong on ppv! There will probably the three more ppv events this year!

Well yeah, but DAZN's end goal isn't just to be involved in sports like racing and darts or cricket. They just only had those options to bid on for now until the big sports leagues rights open up. If they end up with a package similar to the Sunday Ticket? They will be extremely satisfied just off that. Maybe get a part of the NFL and NBA packages? Again, that would be great for them. Boxing is only their main focus temporarily until they have a chance to get their hands on the top sports leagues.
