Canelo was last boxer to be hitting over a million PPV so, yes the is a big chance that PPV is weaken, if not dead.

PPV isn't dead. it will be where you go for almost all the best fights that the fans want. The one good thing is fights that shouldn't be on PPV-say Crawford/Postol-will no longer be.

Now, could it affect other younger fighters trying to make a name for themselves? Sure, but that could change once DAZN gets their brand out to the American public and start making deals with other linear networks. I mean they already are airing their shoulder programming on networks like NBC which is big time.

If you take out Canelo and Floyd no PPV fights have done more than 500,000 buys in the past 5 years. Canelo is now off PPV and Floyd is retired and nobody has yet filled the void in terms of a mega PPV star.

I have a good friend who I would describe as a casual fan. He knows little of Canelo. When there is a big fight that people are talking about, he'll ask my opinion and then order the fight and have friends over. This guy will never subscribe to DAZN even with the cost breakdown. In his case and I'm sure many others, a cheaper PPV model is best. He like the event and spectacle of it all.

The problem right now more than anything is no one knows what DAZN is. It is a totally new streaming service in the US. If this fight was on ESPN+, some would still no doubt be confused since it is on an app, but the name ESPN would register to them and they would be able to figure it out.

I just really think the issue with PPV is the quality of fights. DAZN IMO isn't replacing PPV it's replacing HBO WCB and BAD. I definitely want to watch the fights they put on.
IMO while Canelo/Jacobs on DAZN is a bargain, having to pay even $9.99 for Canelo/Fielding type fights is too much.
