PPV isn't dead. it will be where you go for almost all the best fights that the fans want. The one good thing is fights that shouldn't be on PPV-say Crawford/Postol-will no longer be.
You are wrong on a number of things,.... An example,.
You think if Charlo wanted to fight Canelo you think it's gonna be on Showtime ppv or DAZN??
And Crawford-Khan shouldn't of been ppv but it was.... I think ppv will still be around but it's gonna depend on who the A-side is... Canelo is clearly the A-side so any fight involving him is clearly gonna be on DAZN.

Even if DAZN got to monopoly status, they would have to keep their pricing at a level where it didn't encourage/stimulate sites pirating the streams. Getting a pirated stream up can be difficult at times dealing with all the popup ads and other problems, and at 20 a month it might be worth avoiding all the hurdles of getting a pirated stream up. But that changes a lot if DAZN as a monopoly starts to abuse the customers through unrestrained pricing. The pirate army would be galvanised to bring down DAZN, and the resources of DAZN could never match them - so that natural constraint exists, and DAZN knows it.

I agree with De La Hoya on this one. PPV is a very outdated concept. Who wants to pay $70-$100 for PPVs anymore? Streaming services are the future & are with the times. PPV feels like something that should have went away 5 years ago. I mean there could be some rare exceptions like something the caliber of a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao matchup, but that’s about it.

ok, that is a reasonable point. Canelo is the top draw. The one exception, Canelo keeps calling out Floyd for a rematch, I doubt that would be on DAZN. On the other hand, it looks like AJ/Wilder will be PPV.

What about the lower tier DAZN guys?

I'm happy as *** with DAZN! Get catchup on fights and can watch it on PS4 full surround sound 65" tv. Last weekend saw a bunch of fights. I just spent $160 on 2 sht fights back to back. This is awesome!

IMO he drops Jacobs at least once. A KO is worth 4:1 odds. I'm either dropping $100 or two?

Awesome weekend if I can make $800 ... And if not? Owe well

Only hardcore fans of combat sports are going to pay for this, especially now when every network and studio is creating their own streaming channel. I think a mix of PPV and free TV is the right formula. Just lower the PPV prices.
110% agreement. ESPN is actually doing it the right way, top rank just isn’t the right promotion for it lately

Definitely will be interesting to see how the PPV market changes in the next few years. Will they be able to lower the price but cut out the cable distributors making up for the price point change?

For the time being obviously PPV is still alive. Canelo leaving left a void and allowing others to get on PPV. Of course you don't want too many Crawford/Khan types of numbers, but hey it happens. PPVs are really the only thing that make cross promotional fights possible though.

What don't you understand? Previously Canelo's fight's cost $80+ and now they cost $20 or if you sign up for the year $50 and get every other DAZN fight card for the effectively free. Lowering the price point of any product typically will increase demand.
