technically the fighter would not know the total amount offered to their promoter at the time of negotiations. They would find out later, assuming the proper Ali Act disclosures were provided after the fight. In an ideal world the Act would require those disclosures being made at the time of negotiations, but it doesn't. So different promoters handle it differently. In all of MY dealings, I let the fighter see all the emails or listen in on the phone calls, because they would ultimately find out anyways, so why BS about it?

They never wanted the fight. This is just damage control. He was asked at least five times why he doesn't just pick up the phone and save the fight. He kept deflecting and beating around the bush. A couple of months ago, Ortiz was the boss and the one making the decisions. Now it's all up to the promoter.Last edited by nixxter; 04-26-2019, 02:07 PM.Comment

🤯🤦*♂️ Luis Ortiz's manager Jay Jimenez has now admitted it's THEIR FAULT the Anthony Joshua fight isn't happening. He and Ortiz wanted to take the $5m offer, but negotiations are being led by their promoter who "dropped the ball" and thought he could get more. [@ThaBoxingVoice]

He was pissed off because he said the offer was higher than $5million and he'd been speaking with Ortiz's manager about it and thought they were on the same page.
I've been reading about this in another thread. It turns out the statement came from Ortiz's promoter, not his manager, and $5million is what would have been left for Ortiz after the promoter took his cut.Last edited by kafkod; 04-26-2019, 02:17 PM.Comment
