Same reason GGG fought Vanes when Canelo got busted (although closer to the fight date)
There are many fighters worse than Ortiz but they have to save a show. I don’t think the paying American public will accept Dave Allen. Ortiz is the perfect candidate. He has enough skills to make it to the 3rd round at least.. Normal fans see him as a pet monkey not a Gorilla ( King Kong) like he claims.

Wilder made Ortiz look better than he actually is. That's the truth and AJ would probably deal with him quite easily. AJ is just a totally different physical presence in the ring than Wilder, is more accurate and has more force behind his shots, although they may nott be as snappy.

All bad signs from a guy who barely moves his head when he fights.
      I agree....

I keep looking for a comment from Ortiz...

        Still nothing as yet.

Come on King Kong, we wanna see this fight!

A lot of this is waiting on the "B" sample to be tested for Miller's camp. In the slim, non-realistic, fantasy-land chance it tests negative, then Miller can still get his shot at Joshua. I understand the 24th (according to ESPN) is when those results will be known, then a true offer can be made to a replacement.

Roach know his stuff and is an elite trainer, do we believe him about how this fight goes or do we believe Wilder nuthuggers who have hyped Ortiz up to be a complete beast with the only evidence of this to be that he fought Wilder and lost.

Is it strange to a fan of both? Is that allowed? I see Joshua as the best out there right now. I get the criticisms of his head movement and being stiff defensively, but I truly see the best package out there right now at HW. He has power, he is technically sound, he has a pretty decent resume by todays standard, and he is a smiling, good humored guy. But I really do like to cheer for Ortiz. A great father, a likeable guy, and he is an across the board good boxer. If you were scoring all the things that make a decent fighter on a scale of 1-10, Ortiz may set at a 7 on every one. No spectacular weakness, no terrible strength. Just a freaking good, well balanced fighter.

I would love a Joshua/Ortiz fight way more than that tub of goo, unproven Miller.

Where is that "boogeyman" Ortiz?! Usually, that clown is very loud, or at least his manager. Seems Haymon shut his mouth too. #FreePBC******

As soon as Hearn announces Joshua’s stand in Ortiz will come out and say he was ready but no call or his internet was down . He didn’t know and he would fight him for £500,000. Wilder fans will buy it and be happy again saying Ortiz is the 2nd best heavyweight. Fury was 2nd but he signed with ESPN so they have pushed him back down to 5th ,one behind Adam kownacki
