Comments Thread For: Roach Gives Luis Ortiz No Shot To Beat Anthony Joshua

JARRELL MILLER should be slapped with a life ban from boxing for committing 'attempted murder', according to trainer Freddie Roach. Miller was denied a licence to fight unified heavyweight chief Anthony Joshua on June 1 after recording an 'adverse finding' in a drug test prior to the bout. The American will be able to reapply if his B Sample does not produce the same outcome, yet it is unlikely he will compete for the IBF, WBO, IBO and WBA 'Super' heavyweight titles at Madison Square Garden.

I agree 1000% percent, the hype of Ortiz would be exposed, AJ would make him look his real age of 52year old...but the biggest obstacle to this fight would be if Ortiz isn’t currently on the juice...shame on him though he should have grabbed this fight with both hands, 7 weeks is enough to get ready, fighting for 3belts and 6.5m comes once in a life time or never for most boxers...he should grab this fight...

Ortiz is very dangerous and you can't say he has no chance. The more interesting thing to me is how Roach says Joshua is the best heavyweight after training Fury.

Even after training Fury he said Joshua is the best because Joshua is the best

I just hope that Ortiz is willing to try and prove Roach wrong; though it's worrying that he is yet to say anything after Hearn has said that he is their number 1 option. Warning flag that he simply does not want it.

Just cannot see it being Ortiz Sky TV learned their lesson when Khan was ktfo in the first fight of a new deal

This is Joshuas USA coming out party if he lost his first fight there it would be a disaster for them and take them 2 steps back to rebuild theres no doubt Hearn will be getting pressure from TV bosses to take the safest option possible

It's sad to hear Ortiz is the betting favourite to get the Joshua fight when his own trainers say he can't be ready in time so Fred is right to give him no chance.

Fred is spot on when he says that Miller should have a life time ban and that the existing rule doesn't serve purpose.....Canelo , six months etc, etc.

This would be all well and good if the team actually thought Ortiz was that much of a problem.

Ortiz is the type of fighter that joshua would excel against

It's only Wilder's spastic fanboys who see Ortiz as anything but a mild threat to AJ.

Wilder made Ortiz look better than he actually is. That's the truth and AJ would probably deal with him quite easily. AJ is just a totally different physical presence in the ring than Wilder, is more accurate and has more force behind his shots, although they may nott be as snappy.

All bad signs from a guy who barely moves his head when he fights.

Those are good points yea... but you are forgetting there are fighters worse than Ortiz available why would they take the highest risk option when they have been given a free pass? If Joshua fights a can not many will aim their anger at him they will aim it at big baby

Same reason GGG fought Vanes when Canelo got busted (although closer to the fight date)
