I don't care how many title defenses any fighter from the U.K. Has they will never be able to surpass an American boxer in terms of fame or popularity and that's just a fact.

As I've stated before, I will state it again. When there is an American Heavyweight champion; The whole wide world both recognizes and takes notice of him.

Deontay Wilder is the least of the heavyweights and yet he is still the most famous and known of all the heavyweights in the world. Not only is he the most famous boxer in the world but he is also the 34th most famous athlete in the world.

Damn it feels good to be an American!

CBS owns Showtime so that's why he's there, to try and promote him more. He's not there through popularity. Haha.

This shouldn't even be a thread. But considering Wilder's fans are as crazy and deluded as their hero is, we have this bag of shlt.

Please stop trying to convince us that Wilder is a star, because he isn't.

Larry, Wilder is American, and so are you. Of course you want to make out he's the real deal. It's what you guys do. Especially when there's a Brit in opposition.

        It's all about the ego.

Just because some fighters are only concerned with how much money they can wring out of their fans for mediocre fights, it doesn't mean all fighters are that way and certainly Deontay doesn't feel that way. His words:

"I've had a long relationship with Showtime. I consider these guys like family to me. We come a long way," he said. "I didn't feel like this fight was a pay-per-view fight. I feel when you have pay-per-view fights they are the special fights, like they're the ones you gotta see, like you'll miss your rent money to see the fight. I don't feel this fight is that type of situation and I don't want people to pay more than they have to pay. I'm the people's champion. I'm not trying to take more than what's due to me. I want to be fair to the people."

As for AJ's financial clout, we've yet to see it in boxing's biggest market...and the June fight on DAZN isn't very likely to change that much. But, if it sells out it might be a sign of good things here for AJ.

But right now? AJ really has very little leverage when it comes to US numbers. He has never sold a ppv in the US and the Miller fight will be his first try at filling an arena here.

And that's why a fight, if it takes place here in the US, is indeed at best 50/50 fight where AJ is concerned. It was like that BEFORE Wilder did a ppv with Fury.

It might be worst for AJ now.
Haha, You trying to make out Wilder is a knight in shining armour. He said he doesn't want the fight on PPV because he knows it bombs very badly and doesn't want his fragile ego to be dented. LOL You making out it's for the fans. Haha. Wilder before then was screaming that he's a PPV fighter now. But you know about his contradictions every time he opens his mouth? Oh no, wait. You don't. You're as crazy as he is.

It might be worse for AJ now? So You're claiming Wilder is the A side? And this is why people all over the world mock Wilder and his fans on social media. You're just impossible to have a reasonable conversation with. Insanity at it's worst.

Am not arguing all that bullocks, neither am I interested in how popular wilder is in the www.
If he cant fill a 14k seat, his popularity is falacy and hopeless.
Some are fill 90k across the pond and no one is making noise about it.

Do u really need to go to a basket ball event to fill a tiny seat of 14k persons in a country of over 300mil persons?

This is how we know popularity index.
            Grow up boy.

Here's another quote from THIS website:

“Pay-Per-View for me is definitely those big moments, those special magical moments for fights that people have to see. Breazeale don’t fit that bill,” Wilder readily admitted when asked during a recent interview on Tha Boxing Voice podcast. “Nobody knows Breazeale. He tries to play that tough man role, but his voice ain’t even deep enough for starters and he ain’t got no swagger.”

He has never considered it ppv worthy.

You believe it or disbelieve it, makes me no difference.

But, there is a public record.
Wilder has said this ever since he knew it was definitely Brezeale he'd be fighting. He said it because he knew it would bomb. Nothing more.

the spin is pretty "mind bobbling" as wilder would say. wilder wanted the fight on normal showtime and not ppv lol! get real. your last fight flopped and lost millions. they were not about to put your ass back on ppv against such a crap opponent. pretending like you are doing the fans a favor

How and why you lie and deluded yourself to this extent, I have no idea why. But you're welcome to it.

With the levels of delusion that so many of you display on here and elsewhere, I can assure you no one would wish to be American. The world is pretty happy that they're not. For obvious reasons.

Yep. Having those two huge networks behind him can only help his name recognition in the U.S.

He just needs to keep winning.
