Bob Arum Blasts Eddie Hearn: Calls Him Clueless

Don't have a link for that as I am the source of that information.
But you don't have a link of Idec saying Wilder can go 0-4 and still get the 120 million because Idec never said that.Comment

You're right, he didn't say that, he said this:
One of the most interesting components to DAZN's $120-million offer to Wilder was that he still would've been guaranteed the Joshua fight if he had lost to Breazeale in the 1st fight of the deal. That's how bad Skipper & Co. wanted Wilder to sign with DAZN.

It was a flat fee. But he also would've been guaranteed $40 million for a rematch, even if he lost to Joshua by knockout. Wilder's handlers convinced him the Joshua fight eventually will be worth more than $40 million & thus more than $80 million if there's a rematch.

So he would have still been guaranteed the Joshua fight even with a loss to Breazeale. Now, you're saying he wouldn't be getting 40M for the fight? That's interesting if true, as is he would have to win the rematch against Breazeale to get the Joshua fight.Comment

Modern megaphones are also easier to come by nowadays.Arum is just the face, just as Eddie is just the face. Barry still makes the major decisions for Matchroom and Carl now makes the big decisions for Top Rank.
OTT is the way to go long term . . . IF you have a modern megaphone to spread the word. People watching CBS and Showtime find out about CBS All Access and the Showtime app. People watching ESPN find out about ESPN+.
DAZN isn't owned by an existing major platform, so they're off in lala land where the average person will never find out they exist.
As for DAZN's long term goal of getting the major sports leagues, by the time that's an effective strategy, why won't the major sports leagues just cut out the middleman and start their own service?
I don't know stats but I'd be very confident more people log into Facebook each day than watch ESPN. There's an example of your modern megaphone. You can put that advert in the face of your consumer with a link to your product!
And why won't the sports leagues cut out the middleman? Some will. But most companies like to stick at what they're good at. The English Premier League is happy to sell rights - it de-risks the deal for them and puts TV production in the hands of TV Companies.
In this case it's putting TV production, live streaming and promotion in the hands of a company specifically setup to perform that activity.
You could equally ask why all boxers don't promote themselves. Some will do it really well - others want to lean on expertise and have the ability to hold somebody else to account for performance in that area.Last edited by Toffee; 03-24-2019, 11:49 PM.Comment

Here in the US, the majority of top fighters don't have a promoter. Haymon's model will only continue to grow here. It never made any sense for a star boxer to sign an exclusive promotional agreement. Now most of the top guys here realize that.Comment

WBC WBA IBF is a lying fantasist, don't believe a word he says. Check out the thunderdome, everyone clowning the tard for making ridiculous claims. You're right, he didn't say that, he said this:
