Hearn doesn't understand the U.S. market. DAZN will be better off if they let Oscar quarterback this thing.

Arum is a cancer, though. With his in-house mismatches and marinating.

Hearn openly admits to learning about the US Market as he goes.

But when it comes to technological advancements in media I probably won't go to a guy in his 80s for his opinion.

Every big media company, without exception, sees OTT as the way to go.

If DAZN puts on Wilder v Joshua, they'll download the app.

Or SHO can put a crazy guarantee for both fighters and put it on PPV. But the thing is Wilder was guaranteed 20M even after the Joshua fights and for the Breazeale fight. Maybe what Wilder's team is doing is trying to bid DAZN and ESPN against each other for Wilder's services and they feel they can get an improved deal.

Another interesting thing to track in 2019.
40 million guaranteed is a good offer but Wilders side wants a percentage on the back end. 40 is a tremendous number but when you look at it it isn’t nothing but another flat fee offer. I would bet my left nut Joshua is getting a percentage. Canelo as well. And neither one of them are making any significant impact on DAZN’s subscriber base. Last week I checked there was 40.3k downloads of the DAZN app on the iPhone App Store. Signing Wilder would at least triple that number. The man deserves a percentage.

They’ll never sign Wilder unless they give him a percentage.

Arum is just the face, just as Eddie is just the face. Barry still makes the major decisions for Matchroom and Carl now makes the big decisions for Top Rank.

OTT is the way to go long term . . . IF you have a modern megaphone to spread the word. People watching CBS and Showtime find out about CBS All Access and the Showtime app. People watching ESPN find out about ESPN+.

DAZN isn't owned by an existing major platform, so they're off in lala land where the average person will never find out they exist.

As for DAZN's long term goal of getting the major sports leagues, by the time that's an effective strategy, why won't the major sports leagues just cut out the middleman and start their own service?

Percentage of what? Refreshment sales? There's no PPV on DAZN.
