I think Usyk is going to surprise a lot of people and win by wide margain or late fight TKO. His speed is going to give Povetkin all types of fits. I expect Povetkin to stand his ground and challenge usyk in spots using his advantages of size and power. Usyk can already match Povetkin in big fight experience and usyk will continue to rise to the occasion if he meets the Russian next.

Lmao. The only one who put Povetkin to sleep was AJ. Usyk’s feather fist won’t drop him

I repeat. He's too old and absorbs too many head punches. Also, couple that with a shitty defense and he is solely an offensive fighter.

In addition, with his diminished reflexes, he doesn't take a punch all that well and his better years are now behind as he's declined. Moreover, he no longer has the same workrate or stamina that he once had.

If he can still secretly use his PEDS then fine. He will be able to get to Uysk in the early rounds of the fight and possibly win. However, if not then youth will be served and Oleksandr will steamroll past him.

If it were not so, then Team Usyk would have never agreed to this fight in the first place. They are taking it because they believe the same as I do and that is Povetkin is past his prime and is no longer a threat and a safe opponent for Usyk.

It's like you get out of bed in the morning with the sole purpose of criticising non-PBC fighters.

How do you rate an older Ortiz who never fought anyone that good got dropped more times against Wilder than Povetkin did against AJ and not rate Povetkin at all who's faster on his feet than Ortiz and better getting in and out?

For a debut fight at HW this is as good as it gets without fighting AJ,Wilder or Fury.

If POv comes in like he did against AJ, he'll take Usyk, who is nowhere near as good a boxer as people make him out to be.

              Great match up though!

Usyk will be a small heavyweight. If he can take Povetkin's power, then he wins by UD.

It's a really good test to see if he can thrive in the division. Gutsy move if true.

Povetkin is as dangerous a puncher as most in the top 10. And he won't have lost that with age.

Dude, you can't compare Povetkin with Ortiz. King Kong is the more fundamentally sound of the two with a better chin, defense and power. He is nowhere near is shot or washed up as Povetkin. Why you think Usyk isn't fighting him because he is an intelligent guy? He ain't crazy. He has very good sense.

Here are the facts: Povetkin is shorter, smaller, lighter, weaker, not as defensively sound or as powerful as Luis Ortiz. Essentially, what I am saying is that Alexander Povetkin is a blown up Cruiserweight which makes this match up that much more plausible.

I hate to piss on your parade but if Ortiz was as vulnerable as Povetkin or as you perceive, then Team Usyk would have jumped at the opportunity to challenge him at a record pace. Hell Matchroom Sport won't even allow any of its fighters in their stable to challenge him because he is so dangerous.

Ummm. You bring the same degree of cynicism to all fighters choice of opponent?

Anyways - up to a point you're probably right. Certainly Sasha is faded, and unless there's ****** money on the line fighters ain't gonna take fights they're confident they can win. Where I think you're perhaps on shakier ground is the assertion that Usyk wouldn't have faced Povetkin a few years ago... I've seen nothing except supreme confidence from Usyk and a willingness to take on all comers. If Huck was able to hold Povetkin to a MD (in which most believe he deserved the nod) I don't think Oleksandr would doubt he could do better.

However, that's all speculative. All we can say is that Povetkin is still considered a top 10 and probably a top 5 Heavy by almost everyone with an opinion, and that ain't a bad way for anyone to start off a run in a new division.
