Ortiz would beat this dude pretty easily. Might even KO him.

I'd have a newfound respect for Martin if he actually faces Ortiz though. We know that "Champion" over in the UK won't do it.

      Re

Kownacki beat him decisively, there's no incentive for a rematch. Kownacki is looking to get Wilder in the ring.

If he takes the Ortiz fight, and can win (doubtful), he may have more bargaining power.

How would I be salty? Martin is trash. If he were to land some miracle punch and KO Ortiz I would give him his props although I still think he's an awful fighter.

Every fighter has a punchers chance, so does Charles Martin, so never say never. I just think it would be extremely funny as Ortiz was talked up as one of the best Heavyweights ever by some of the fanboys on here.
I don't think he's overrated, I just think people want to see him in there with the other guys making noise in the division but nobody wants to actually fight the guy. Of course he's given props by Wilder's fans because no other heavyweight wants to fight the guy and he was considered the boogeyman for some time. Any fan base would hold their guy in high regard if he beat the man nobody seemed interested in fighting due to his skill.

Kauffman is a pretty durable fighter. Martin went from the Dawejkos & Zumanos to fighting Joshua. He completely jumped that fringe contender/top 30ish level of fighters. He went from the kiddy pool to the ocean. In my opinion a few more fights against guys like Kevin Johnson, Derric Rossy & Kauffman may have better prepared him for the next level. Getting some more quality rounds in would have helped him build some stamina & confidence going into the next level of competition. That is how the HWs in the 90s did it. Beat the journeymen, then the Monte Barretts, Obed Sullivans & Lou Savereses before taking on the the top 20 fighters. Kauffman is at the fringe contender / top 30 level like Barrett, Sullivan & Saverese were.

Kauffman is a durable, if somewhat limited guy who will try to win. There are other guys that could fill the role (Mariusz Wach, Sascha Dimitrenko, etc.). As another poster (Joe Strong) stated, Charles Martin didn't really have a traditional development into a contender and champion. He did stop Dawejko, one of the few i believe, but that's one of his best wins. I think if Martin had a few of those fights that he lacked before he was thrust in as a champion, and he won, he could be viable opponent and fringe contender.

I agree to an extent. Don't quite put Kaufman in the same company as Barrett and Savarese. A Michael " the bounty hunter" or Andy Ruiz jr. should be next for Matrin. If he wins then a shot at the top guys should be next.

A true champion will not fight a challenger when hez still on HBP drugs and was lobbied to be decleared fit for fight night.

Ortiz was so much in a hurry that he jumpped ship and go for the easier fight and got KTFO.
It's nobody's fault. He has to join the queue again.
                    Sorry to disappoint you minster.
There is no title shot for any fighter based on your request. He has to work his way up again.

What are you talking about? I wasn't advocating for or requesting a title shot for Ortiz right now. I was pointing out that while he was highly regarded before the Wilder fight that nobody was in a rush to fight him, and even still they don't want to fight him. My post was in response to someone saying he was highly overrated by Wilder fans.
