For those who aren't gasping the obvious here, DAZN is mimicking the Netflix/Prime business model where you overpay a few premium talents in order to get the subs, then you recoup by retaining the subs.
Problem is, they don't have the kind of content that boxing fans are going to stick around for.

People on this forum already decided who they are going to cheer for or boo against so a lot of you guys can't look at this in an honest way.

He can fight on Canelo’s undercard in May.

It seems like you had the brilliance and lack of bias to figure it out though!

Don't don't really care one way or the other about any of the players involved. This place is weird AF in that there's people sitting for and against DAZN. Lol.
I'm not for or against GG either. I thin he won the last two but they'll never let him beat Canelo. Regardless, if he can get these fools to pay this money that would be incredible.

It's a good deal for both parties. It's enough for Golovkin to take it despite it being short term, and lures another superstar to DAZN. He was probably looking for a longer commitment, something like ~4-5 fights for ~60-70m total.

I also love the set up. Assuming Golovkin and Canelo win (which are big ifs), and they meet for a 3rd fight in Sept, we'll have the first truly unified, undisputed MW champion in ~20 years.

I don't know what terms and conditions come with all the money DAZN is throwing, but they ain't recouping even 10% of their money.

                    That is ****ing insane money.

Remember how people used to say that the Klitschkos didn't draw in America because there was no audience for Eastern European fighters?

DAZN (still hate that name) had a lot of broadcast right for a lot of sports worldwide. They will eventually recoup the cost. Its called playing the long game.

Even fans who know nothing of business can see that they won't recoup 47m from TWO Golovkin fights. He doesn't add that value to ANY two fights. That's why this is an unbelievable story that people are shocked over. If it doesn't shock you, you don't know shyt about the sport.

It's either a false report or a sign that someone at DAZN is blowing millions foolishly.
If you have played chess seriously you will know that a certain piece can be vitally important early in a game, then become expendable later on.

It looks like DAZN are trying to line up the pieces they need for a MW super tournament which will end with either Canelo or the new all American hero Danny Jacobs fighting one or another of GGG, Andrade, BJS for all 4 title belts.

That would attract many subscribers, and also raise DAZN's profile in the US media considerably, which is what they need for their long game plan to work.

So the money being offered to GGG is an investment in DAZN's future, which will extend beyond his retirement, rather than in Golovkin himself.

They are also forcing their main competitor to dig way down deep into their own pockets to try and keep up with them.

A year ago, who would ever have imagined that GGG would lose all his MW belts .. then be offered $10million+ by Haymon to fight TBA on a PBC show??!!!
