Usyk has been a cruiser for a reason. So any discussion of walk around weight needs to be used in context. Besides, size isn't just weight. Ortiz is a big bodied strong dude. I bring up southpaw because I would imagine that Ortiz being of Cuban decent has had more opportunities to fight other southpaws than Usyk. As for power, Ortiz has more power than Gassiev and is a far more tactical fighter.Aren't they both southpaw?
Ortiz and Povetkin seem like perfect fighters for Usyk to debut both probably a little over rated biggish names but now declining due to age.
I saw on an interveiw with Alex Arthur that Usyk walks around at 16 stone naturally, 224 lbs, and that's whilst his been in cruiser so Id imagine he'd only get heavier once he transitions to HW and Ortiz is only 240 so there won't be much of a weight advantage and despite what you guys say he hasn't demonstrated that monstrous power, couldn't finish someone who was on their feet and if thats an engine problem instead well you don't want that against Usyk. Plus both 6'3 I think people are underestimating the size of some of these cruisers.
Povetkin is smaller but more aggresive/active which caused Usyk a little bit of trouble with Bellew so that not a bad test.
Both will be a good measuring stick for any of the guys.
Fucc Lebdev off though he's just old as Pov/Ortiz and only a cruiser.
Not saying that Usyk can't win, just saying it would be a very interesting fight. If I was his manager, I would target Povetkin. It would basically be a cruiserweight match up at heavyweight...and Povetkin post meldonium will gas like Bellew.Comment

I think I agree with your point here. It seems that politics plays such a big part in boxing matchmaking and I find it refreshing to see someone prepared to step up and take on boxers that perceived to be bigger threats; and as a bonus if the bouts do happen, we'll get to see some good boxing too!
For what it's worth, I think Usyk will surprise a lot of people.. he is that good.Comment

I've been thinking something similar. Both Gassiev and Bellew hit blood hard... a lot of people are underestimating Usyk!Comment

The dude that posted this is a closet ****. Literally wtf says that type ****. Plus really usyk is good but he's not beating anyone in the top 4 AJ Wilder Fury Ortiz. AJ and Whyte don't even try to step Ortiz way. Usyk should fight breazele Whyte or Joe joyce and even povetkin his first 2-3 fights before he steps up to the top 4 in the division. Usyk fighting the top 4 would be as bad a match to watch as Mikey garcia stepping up to fight Spence( Garcia got heart but he's not beating spence)Comment

By all means let em rush his career. Let Eddie Hearn dangle him in front of Luis Ortiz if he wants. That would be red meat for him. He will fight him tomorrow. Just remember that before an infant can walk it must first learn to crawl. I still say that Usyk needs more time to grow and develop into the Heavyweight division first. It appears he understands this better than Eddie Hearn does because when they asked him about fighting Anthony Joshua his answer was like Hell no. I am not ready.Comment
