    QUOTE]

Juicy, with all due respect your fighters that you speak of were good. They may have sold out big over there and the super middles may be been glamorous over there, but here it was not such a big deal. Like I said, they were good. But you are making legends out of good fighters. The super middles have always been about Europe and still are. They dont get much attention over here.

Benn/Eubank II drew a world-wide audience of over 1 billion, that's a fact. Eubank was rarely out of the newspapers across the Commonwealth, and the Commonwealth is about 90% of the planet.

As for the middle division not getting recognition in USA, well the Toney/Jones and Benn/McClellan fights might have something to say about that

For a couple of split seconds then the super middles had some light shine on it. Other then that they were of little concequence over here. Benn and Eubanks were fine fighters, I guess that the hall will determine their final status.

How could Eubank possibly get into the HOF with his controversial views on the sport and the famous "mugs game" remarks, and just using the sport to enhance his standard of living? The Hall of Shame, possibly.

Benn ofcourse is a future HOF.

There's never been a more exciting figher than Nigel Benn, of that I think we can all agree.

And for entertainment value (nothing to do with his boxing), and for single-handedly modernising the sport, Eubank was different class. Different class.

If you can't handle it, that's your problem. You really don't know what your talking about, Eubank turned boxing upside down.

Who got more publicity than Eubank in world boxing in the early to mid 90's? Only Tyson even comes close. Which boxer couldn't walk down a street in Europe, South Africa or the Middle East without being mobbed? Outside of Eubank, probably only Tyson.
What's your point? So Eubanks is liked in Europe. Go for him. That don't make him great. He's was a boarderline clubfighter who would of got crushed in the US. Which is why his ass stood in Europe.

Exactly what do you mean by the Commonwealth? And how is it about 90% of the planet?

Juyjuy this thread makes no sense. Everyone respects Calzaghe, now, if they didn't before, even in the US. That includes US fans, boxers (most all of whom already respected him) and the US media (most of whom did not respect him).

Sure you have some racially biased guys like Bozo and Bloodshed who will always find something bad to say about Joe (or about Lacy, that's the other spin, guys trying to say Lacy was "green"- the most absurd notion I've ever heard when you're talking about a reigning world titlist who had like 250+ amateur bouts LOL).

And of course, Juyjuy, your words would mean a whole lot more if you hadn't picked Lacy to beat Joe, just like me and the rest of the US boxing fans. You picked Lacy to win and you now love to constantly preach about how underappreciated Calzaghe was. LOL You underestimated him just like everyone else.

                      lol, yep.

All of a sudden he's acting like everyone owes Calzaghe some type of recognition that he was deserving, when he was picking Lacy to win by the 4th round, thereby discrediting everything he always preached about Calzaghe.

It's almost like a fireman starting a fire, then extinguishing the flame himself, the starting a fire again and walking away.

                      JuyJuy, you're a dork arsonist.
