You have four major belt champions in the division. You have a Ring Champion in Smith which they do not give out easily. There is no Ring Magazine Champion that I am aware of that is not a title holder.

So the ring is the authority now? I bet i could find posts of you saying different in the past. Sites like TBRB recognise no champion.

Tom just throwing names around. I doubt Golovkin would fight Smith next. GGG's history doesn't support that.

You can't have Golovkin rated above Canelo.

The result isn’t wiped out. Canelo is the champion at 160lbs. You can rate Canelo higher on the P4P list. But at 168lbs if Golovkin beats the champion he becomes the champion of the division.

At what arbitrary point would Golovkin become the guy at 168lbs. Let’s say he best Smith, Zurdo and Benevidez in 2019. Mean while Canelo faced Fielding, jumped down to 160lbs and then fought Eubanks. Would Canelo be the guy at 168lbs or Golovkin?

              Smith isn't the lineal champion.

That would be different. Golovkin would have done more and enough time would have past to have him rated higher. Canelo literally just beat him, if they both move up you've got to have Canelo higher imo.

Would love to see G move up to 168 he's done everything he needed to at 160.

I think the Ring does the best job. Is it perfect no. But I respect them by far more than any boxing organization. Please find me a post where I’ve hammered Ring’s rankings.

Everything I’ve seen has Smith as the number one guy. Zurdo, Benevidez are also in top 3.

It is silly at this point. I’ll believe it when I see it. I’m not sure Golovkin has the passion anymore. As you get older it isn’t only your athleticism that declines but your fire. Some guys don’t lose it but many of them fight too long and can’t perform.

Canelo didn't beat Golovkin IMO. Putting that aside if G beats Smith and Canelo beats Fielding of course G will be rated higher at 168. Unless your talking P4P. Even then depending how each guy performs Golovkin could end up rated higher than Canelo P4P. Smith is rated #1 and Fielding is rated #9. The gap in skills between Fielding and Smith is pretty big.
