Pulev had never earned a top ten worthy place.

What do all of them do these days to get a shot? Not much, so yeah he has done enough. What did AJ do before he got a shot at Martin? Pulev was meant to fight AJ last year but he got injured and Takam was installed as the next mandatory. So Pulev deserves his shot 100%.

I thought Pulev was good against a mobile opponent. He caught everything Hughie threw on the gloves, avoided the right Hughie was trying to walk him onto.

Pulev is a top fighter and there is no one else out there more worthy of a mandatory shot..... Povetkin has been beat, Ortiz has been beaten and is fighting worse opponents.....

Who is there out there to fight for Joshua? Pulev would be a good scalp and a good fight IMO.

          Pointless fight.
Any fighter who has beaten the great "WHO NECKS!" has a spectacular resume. Come on Laced, you know that.

So we're criticizing Wilder for using step aside agreements to avoid lesser threats so he can seek out bigger and more difficult challenges? That's what the Wilder hate on BS has come to? Pathetic.

But he’s pretty statuesque. Best case scenario for a neutral is AJ tries to blast him out and Pulev somehow weathers the storm and comes on late when AJ has gassed a bit.

I dunno. They’re heavyweights but I can’t picture how Pulev wins.
At which point AJ hugs him to the ropes...throws a couple of air swings and we get a british ref stoppage.

When Wilder had the Povetkin fight looming, he did everything possible for that fight not to happen, and it took a huge purse bid for Wilder to even consider going to Russia.

He won the fight, that's the rules, impressive or not he's a mandatory. Boxing fans likes to shyt on belt orgs but some of them have integrity.

He's too small to challenge Joshua, and doesn't hit hard enough. I think to beat Joshua you need to be able to knock him out, because on the other hand if he hurts you badly he will finish you off. He's shown in recent fights that he can be outboxed but if you get hurt even once you're probably not going to survive. Pulev might actually be on par when it comes to skill but he's outmatched everywhere else, and we've already seen against Wlad that his chin doesn't hold up to heavy shots. It's a pretty pointless fight but honestly I'm not sure if it's that much worse than Parker or Povetkin.
