Yeah ever since I was a kid in the early 90's watching boxing on HBO. It was always Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley. In a sense HBO died for me when They retired Merchant and the fights on HBO since then have gotten progressively worse

HBO took a hit when it did Al Haymon dirty, also the commentators were terrible and were getting worst, they were very biased to certain fighters

After Games of Thrones is done next year, I'm unsubscribing....I will save money. HBO has been in my family before I was born....it feels good to finally put her to rest.

I'm at ease...may she rest in peace.

Used to love HBO in the 90s, but lately their quality plummeted and the broadcasting team got more into the storytelling than a boxing match should have. They got extremely biased and created narratives to push certain fighters or discredit others, that was the time when HBO died for many boxing fans.

Al Haymon damn near singlehandedly destroyed that company. He took his vast pool of talent over to Showtime and HBO could never compete or recover from it.

With their budget cuts and the loss of its Eastern European talent roster, with GGG being the last to go; The network was simply on life support as it became very apparent that it was the last straw that broke the camel's back.

They lost both Lomachenko, Kovalev and Golovkin all in the same calendar year.

Talking about the pot calling the kettle black. Remember when Billy Joe Saunders was cutting up on Canelo?

“Middleweight world titleholder Billy Joe Saunders has failed a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association drug test for the banned substance oxilofrine, a stimulant, multiple sources with knowledge of the test results told ESPN on Thursday. Saunders is preparing for an Oct. 20 defense against Demetrius Andrade in Boston but that is likely to be canceled and Saunders is likely to be stripped of his 160-pound world title.”

                    What a Shame

The only reason I had HBO was because of Boxing. Let's face it HBO has ****** for the past 10 years since they dropped Deadwood and Rome.

I rarely ever watch HBO and if it was not for boxing I would of cancelled long ago. I cancelled today after I read the news. And HBO has the gall to basically say its customers do not give a **** about boxing and will not cancel because they have dropped boxing. I already know 3 family members plus me that are dropping HBO just because of HBO leaving boxing.

People can complain about HBO's bias announcing, but HBO has a rich history in boxing and it by far had the absolute best production value of all. The best showing of stats, the best camera views, etc.

maybe it would mean more fights on free TV that's a cause for celebration
