100% wrong. If the two sides fail to strike a deal, it goes to purse bid. The WBA has no legal way to strip a champion for failing to strike a deal voluntarily. A purse bid must be ordered.

Stop playing silly semantic games. Nobody is talking about AJ being stripped for failing to strike a deal with Povetkin voluntarily except you.

He would have been stripped for the same reason the IBF stripped GGG - failing to comply with a direct order that he must fight his mandatory challenger next.

GGG was stripped for refusing to fight his mandatory. Had he not refused, they would have held a purse bid.

And if Wilder had signed the contract, and Hearn had then told him, and Finkel, and the WBA, and Povetkin, and Ryabinsky, that he'd been lying to all of them when he said the unification fight would happen next, and he'd really been planning to have it April 2019 all along.. would that have been legally binding?

Would Wilder have had no choice but to fight AJ in 2019, for a $15million flat fee, after being tricked into signing a contract to do it?

And after he fought somebody else first, he refused to fight his mando, so he was stripped. He had 90 days to face his mando per the terms of his exception. He didn't live up to that.

Only reason GGG was stripped without a purse bid is because he told the IBF he wasn't going to take the fight, so there was no reason for a purse bid.

The four corners of the contract are what's binding. Hearn said he was trying to make the fight next, but promised nothing. Said to give him a few days for a definite date. Few days went by and he said April. Had Wilder been dumb enough to sign without any assurances the fight was next, that's his problem.
