Jennings = gets a gift decision against Mike Perez = poor fighter.

Povetkin = destroys Mike Perez in 1 round = proves he is better than Jennings.

We can play these games all day long. Single fights don't prove jacks. Entire records do.

Luis Ortiz is a one dimensional plodder who only knows how to spam a few punches, especially the left. Doesn't know how to feint or set up his punches. Kind of like his countryman Dorticos

Povetkin does most things better than Ortiz.

What has Ortiz done in his amateur + pro boxing career? Beat Jennings? Gimme a break! No Olympic gold medals. No amateur world championship gold medals <<< Povetkin (who has those things).

Ortiz dominated a bunch of journeymen and somehow that proves he is better than Povetkin? Povetkin has regularly beaten higher ranked opponents than Ortiz. That's a fact! Based on that, he is superior in the pros too.

I said it was close, and it is. If Ortiz was such an easy mark AJ would have fought him when Hearn had him in his stable. A big skilled powerful southpaw with tons of amateur experience isn't an easy fight for anyone. That is why was avoided by AJ, Whyte, Parker, Fury, etc.
At all, and Ortiz became that "highly skilled", HW version of Rigondeaux lol since he fought Wilder.

        Ortiz got dat skillz doe..

And LMFAO on Ortiz having a more difficult route than Povetkin and not getting the same opportunities. Based on what? If he was such a great amateur, why didn't he win a gold medal in the Olympics or the pros?

Who stopped him from fighting top heavyweights? In before excuses about others ducking him. Yet, he had no problems fighting low level opposition and somehow they won't duck him but higher ranked heavyweights would?

This is the same guy who himself ducked out of fights too. Such as against Alexander Ustinov.

You are a very honest man and I am happy to know that you at least have the courage to admit such facts.

Comparing his amateur career to povetkins is totally ridiculous.

The Cuban domestic scene is like no other especially at HW when Ortiz was an amateur. Felix Savon was still active, Solis was the #1 choice and one hell of an amateur (Even more accomplished than Povetkin), Alfonso, Acosta, Yoan Pablo Hernandez.
There are many top Cuban amateurs no doubt good enough to have international success who just don't get selected because of the talent pool. Any other Country he's probably 1st choice.

He did beat notable fighters he just couldn't ever get by Solis.

This is Luis Ortiz getting beaten, tossed around and dominated by inferior Ex Soviet boxers than Alexander Povetkin:

Here's Alexander Pov stopping Ortiz in the amateurs, dropping him on his ass at least once in the process. Notice how Pov can't miss with his right hand as soon as it dawns on him that Ortiz's noggin is a magnet for them.

his head has always been a magnet for right hands

Povetkin was a far better amateur and has had a much better career as a pro... so probably him.

PEds hang over both of their careers but that aside, Povetkin was quite clearly the second best HW of the post Vitali era. Ortiz was just a nearly man who couldn’t get the right fights. Maybe not his fault but you can’t give him points for fights he didn’t have
