One of them should have had the shot instead of a fighter that hadn't fought in 2 years, from the division below and lost his last fight. Golovkin cherry picking caused the problem.
Not really...Canelo caused the problem. No sanctioning body is going to expect a fighter to fulfill his mandatory in a short notice situation...especially the wbc who was accepting Canelo as the mandatory.

Mandatories are particularly a joke when a fighter has multiple belts. With the time between mandated challenges and exemptions on top of that, it takes forever for a challenger to actually get a shot. How long are guys supposed to wait? If Canelo and ggg fight, charlo will have to get back in line. I just want to see some other good mw fights outside of ggg vs Canelo.

Golovkin never tried to make the fight with Dev even though he knew it would be called as mandatory. Golovkin didn't have to fight May 5th. He chose an easy fight and now it's coming back to bite him. Serves him right.

Who cares about coming back to bite golovkin? The guy is probably gonna be retired in a couple years...he's looking to cash out vs Canelo. He'd probably trash the belts to make it happen at this point. I'm talking about the other top guys in the division facing each other.

there are 365 days in a year, 366 on leap years. If fighters fought more than twice a year, it shouldn't be a problem. I mean, it's their JOB right? But this is a new era of boxing in which staying "active" is 2 fights a year. Don't blame the sanctioning bodies now.

You're really asking who cares about the thread topic?

nobody think so, most here want to see GGG vs either derevyanchenko (IBF) or charlo (WBC) if there is no canelo

GGG vs Canelo I was a voluntary. GGG vs Canelo II is a mandatory.

WBC can modify the purse split. They could issue an order to give Canelo 50% instead of 30%. But he won't accept 50%, so it's pointless.

so you love mandatories now then? if you didnt like wade then why would you like charlo? they have the same amount of good wins at middleweight. youre hyping him to **** cause he knocked out a chinless hypejob and two nobodies at middleweight, one who might have been eligible for disability benefits cause he had one working leg.

I didn't see anything in the title about "coming back to bite golovkin". You replied to a side bar convo anyway...threads a full of posts discussing things that are related to, but not exactly on topic.

As far as the topic goes...no, the wbc isn't wrong at all for enforcing their mandatory, but they're gonna give an exemption if ggg vs Canelo gets made...so it's not really "enforcing" anything. Not to mention the ggg vs Canelo winner could unify with bjs and still not have to fulfill the mandatory. Also, which mando gets their shot first? That means one of these guys could be waiting 1-2 years. So it brings me back to what I was saying...how long are these guys supposed to wait?

A tournament is a good idea if most of the top fighters can be convinced to participate. I'd love to see that. I'm interested in fights other than ggg vs Canelo or ggg vs whoever...the division has some talent that needs to be showcased.
Definitely agree there. With more coming from welter and superwelter, like Hurd, Spence, Jermell, maybe Lara, Lubin, and more.

GGG should start cleaning house in the division soon or step aside and let these guys figure it out. The current drama with Canelo isn't cool, either. People are tired of it all. Move on already and make the fights that really matter.
