I do not think Golovkin will ever have to worry about paying the bills with what he has made. Of course he'll still want more and thus from a financial standpoint he much to gain fighting Canelo.

As for a legacy standpoint beating Canelo will help Golovkin but this is more about Canelo now. He has damaged his legacy with the PEDs. He needs to beat Golovkin to help him redeem his legacy. First in most people's eyes he lost the first fight, then they find out he was likely cheating. He has much more to gain now beating Golovkin than Golovkin has beating Canelo.

GGG. Canelo makes more money. Canelo can fight lesser opponents for bigger money. Canelo is younger. Probably a half dozen more good reasons. The only reason Canelo needs this fight more than GGG is cuz most people thought GGG deserved the decision thus Canelo needs to prove himself. But these days it seems like you can create your own narrative that can spin any fact spun into the "truth" you need it spun into so idk if thats THAT big of a thing.

So yea GGG needs it more. A Canelo win puts a cherry on top of a career thats very likely close to being over or at least close to ending at the tip top world class level its been running on for years now with the murderers row of opponents waiting on him these days.

If they are holding ground on 50/50 I don't think they are THAT desperate for it. But yea GGG want it/need it/is more desperate for it then GGG thats for certain.

If this fight never gets made, Canelo will still make at least 4-5 million no matter who he fights. On the other hand, ggg doesn't have that drawing power. He could make 2 million to fight Sanders, mil and a half for Charlo or Jacobs rematch and less than that for anyone else

Factor in their ages and it's pretty obvious the answer is ggg

Wow GGG fans are so delusional . Canelo is the face of boxing he dont need GGG. Canelo vs Kirkland had over 2 millions views. GGG vs Vanes on cinco de mayo barely cracked a million. GGG fans are ******ed.

Canelo needs it more because where else does he go? I mean if he cannot go back to 154 which he probably can't. Golovkin is already considered the man and will continue on as vs the likes of Charlo and Saunders. Canelo can pick up Saunders belt to pair with the Ring, but will still be in GGG's shadow a bit until GGG retires.
