Cottos biggest win is a one legged shot Martinez, not to mention his losses to Mayweather, Pacquao, and Canelo. Two of the losses were to all time greats, but Cotto was much bigger in size, and lost. The Canelo loss was unanimous, Golovkin had a "draw". Or that's what they called it
Cotto moved up to MW to beat the lineal champion but you can't tell me anytime that GGG even took a chance like that. Loma does it, KKK takes on the best, GGG not so much.

Mr GGG, a good boxer but terribly managed. He thought he was great fighting the Murrys of this world and other fighters no one had heard of. Now he is in the sun set of his career with a less than stellar resume. He should have fought the likes of Andre Ward when he had a chance and some well known fighters. Sometimes you have to move up to get those guys, Floyd left 135lbs to go to 154 so he could face Dela Hoya, smart business.
Other than moving up 1 weight-class, fighting Ward would have been none of the above.

Chavez Jr, and Amir Khan both drew well for PPV. Heck, Liam Smith helped Alvarez draw 500k homes.
Golovkin doesn't even come close to drawing the ~350k that Alvarez was getting when he first was running PPV with Lara and Angulo.
And you want to argue that Golovkin gets 45% of the pot? Gtfoh
