The explanation is real simple. Canelo’s team did not sign the contract. They are walking away because GGG wants more money.

I think team Nelo conceded to the smaller split with cotto mainly because they knew they would win & he'd be a good legendary scalp on his resume. Plus 55/45 is not so bad when you know the fights gonna do good numbers at the gate and on ppv. So NOBODY got tucked in terms of money.

Nelo also made it clear he'd never have to concede again after that fight.

With all things being considered in regards to canelo vs ggg. In a fair world the split should be 50/50 or 51/49 in favor of GGG. The numbers dont lie, together they both brought each other the largest purses and largest gate of both their careers & there isn't any one else still active today that they can fight and top those numbers. Fact is the rematch will do even better numbers.

Hers how the world works. Canelo breached the contract by testing positive for banned substances. The first contract was for a fight to take place on May 5. Canelo did not fulfill his part if the bargain. There is no longer a contract. Golovkin suffered financial losses and damage to his reputation when he had to scramble for a subsistute. I think GGG's team has really mismanaged him. They have wasted this guys prime by putting him in BS fights and now he has to play second fiddle. I can't imagine how huge this guys career would have been if he had a half decent team. The worst part about it is we can't really tell how great he is because he doesn't have any fights that define him. If they think, Canelo is the dance partner he needs, then his team has failed him again.
