The most telling thing to me is that the WBC immediately ordered a mandatory defense against another Haymon fighter. Clearly Haymon is taking the defection seriously and wants to make sure that belt stays with PBC.
except the guy he is ordered to fight is shot and won’t make it to the final bell.....

Maybe. But since he's shot, Haymon isn't risking anything. Worst case scenario is what you described and the end result is the same for Haymon, losing the belt.

But what if Benavidez is tied up in a lawsuit, can't fight, and therefore can't make his mandatory defense? Then he's stripped and Haymon keeps the belt.

I'm going to laugh if he takes the deal.

              Broner's last 3 purses:

              vs. Vargas: $1M
              vs. Garcia: $1M
              vs. Granados: $1M

Hearn is offering to double his earnings and he turns it down, despite being 1-1-1 in his last 3.

Complete and utter farcity of a post. Just look at Broner's resume. Win or loss he has faced top quality opposition on a multitude of occassions. Strictly pertaining to names it is one of the best in the sport.

this is standard operating procedure for haymon and many others.

which is why you guys have no idea what wilder really makes and look so silly when you go by his listed purse.
Yeah that's very true. I remember Chavez showing a $5 million check after Fondara when his listed purse was around 2-3 million

What a shame. He just continues to slide into obscurity. Kid turning down nearly 7 million dollars for 3 fights after his relevance steadily declining since 2016. He'll be lucky to get 3 million for his next 3 fights combined--if he drops either of the first two, it'll be less. Wasn't that rocnation offer from 2 or 3 years ago anyway? Another year or two, and Broner will be gone. Waste of talent.
