  • Wow, is this author on lil g and/or Tom Loeffler’s payroll? One of the worst pieces I’ve read on this site. Any journalist toasting lil g for a win over a semi retired 154 lber in what myself and most other knowledgeable fans viewed as a mismatch (and lil g ducking any real fight like Andrade or his IBF mando) needs to cover basketball full time.

No he was awarded a draw. Plus he was awarded a win with Jacobs. 2 L's in a row....

Hags also fought and lost to a retired welter.

GGG is just as great as Hop as a middleweight.
And no matter how you cut it, any middleweight defending the title over 17 times will get to the hall of fame .
GGG already past Monzon's greatness imo.

The hate for GGG needs to stop.
You are either a boxing fan or just a nuthugger for someone else .
You can’t compare Kell Brook and Vanes to?Hearn Leonard and Duran. Those are once in a generation fighters. Doing that lets me know you are a nut hugger. No matter how you spin it ggg resume is trash. Hearn Leonard and Duran are hall of famers. How many have ggg beat?
Again title defenses mean absolutely nothing. Lmao I like how you try to make this about just middleweights. Hopkins also won a title at light heavyweight which factors into his greatness

Don’t compare ggg to Hopkins. Hopkins had the balls to move up to light heavyweight. Ggg scary won’t even entertain moving up. His next fight will probably be against Chris Algieri

I just think that he would be so much more of a star, had he been willing to fight Cotto or Canelo @ 155, back when they were both the cream of the crop! B-Hop couldn't get the big fights @ 160, so he went down in weight for Trinidad and Oscar! That's why I will always rank B-Hop above both Hagler and GGG! B-Hop took the risks, and got KOs over 2 HOF fighters! Hagler waited for Sugar to move up, and then lost! GGG waited on Canelo, and got a draw! Even the other 2 judges had a close decision! Like they say, "THERE ARE LEVELS TO THIS!"

                    • GGG doesn't really need to prove anything. If he retires right now he's a Hall of Famer. But if he really wants his name to be considered amongst the upper tier of the greats I think he needs to do the following:

                      1. Prove that he is decisively better than both Jacobs and Canelo. Both fights were good and close. While GGG beat Jacobs and should have earned the nod over Canelo neither victory was decisive. The Canelo fight was close enough that a draw or a slight Canelo victory was justified. Jacobs performed really well in the first fight especially after the knockdown. Now that he knows he can take GGG's punches I would love to see him be more aggressive in a rematch. Rematches with both should prove even more exciting than the first go around and should provide some clarity as to who really is the king of 160.

                      2. Unify belts with Billy Joe Saunders. Billy Joe Saunders is another long time top tier middleweight. He finally wants the fight. Has the boxing ability and movement to potentially give GGG problems. We need to see this fight.

                      3. At least one more defense against a young middleweight like Sergei D, Jermall Charlo, Demetrious Andrade or Ryoto Murata. Hopefully, instead of beating up nobodies (Murata), cripples (Charlo), .500 record fighters (Sergei D) or just talk about taking on big challenges without following through on them (Andrade) these guys will start to challenge each other. Then GGG can just focus on challenging the best of these contenders.

                      4. Move up in weight to fight at least two guys from a group that includes James DeGeale, Gilberto Ramirez and George Groves. GGG's dominance at 160 makes him a guaranteed Hall of Famer. Winning belts in a second division will help strengthen his resume.

                      5. Maybe entice Erislandy Lara, Jermell Charlo or Jarrett Hurd to move up and fight him. 3 more super talented boxers with little left to prove in their own divisions but would make compelling opponents for GGG.
