He's had fighters who came close to being pure elite boxers, but no one good enough. Daniel Geale was just past his prime when he got blown away by GGG, but he had the skills.

Fighter's who pose the greatest test are Charlo, Derevyachenko, Andrade and Saunders.

If G can secure a fight with BJS by the end of this year, let Canelo battle it out with someone else and beat Saunders, then he will certainly enter my top 5 Modern MW's, if he cleans out the entire division, going on the road, he'll make my top ten all-time list.

Just Stand Clenelo up, leave him in the cold and go get that WBO belt!

There should be a poll listed to that aforementioned question: Canelo=money+limited bragging rights; Saunders=undisputed MW status + massive UK event + cemented legacy.

you are smart, too smart for this site

let me give you an example of those fighters

Lara, Mora, Ward, Saunders..... and you can add the still world-class Cotto in there

ALL fights that Golovkin COULD have taken, but CHOSE not to...... selecting a MUCH worse opponent, every single time lol

Charlo and Andrade are dreaming, it will never happen..... but Charlo is now Golovkin's mando, so he will be added to that list shortly

they have obviously avoided the mover/spoilers

the smart guys noticed, the others did not

Ggg needs to prove he can beat competitive legit experienced middleweights. Not up and coming bombs. Lost to Jacobs, drew with small Canelo. Much more to prove.

Time may not be on Golovkin's side- but the middleweight division is loaded with competition.

I'll admit I didn't even get past the headline of this article.

He still hasn't unified with Saunders for starters.

Canelo and Jacobs are 2 obvious rematches that are worthwhile to fans.

Charlo and Derevyanchenko ring a bell?

When GGG was on his way up we all hoped we might see him and Sergio Martinez until Sergio's knees exploded against JCC Jr.
I don't remember too many "What does Martinez have left to prove?" articles at that time.

Then we saw JCC Jr. get trucked by Canelo years later, then Canelo fought GGG to a draw. Golovkin is on the wrong side of 35 but that's also why the division is starting to heat up.

I personally still hope to see middleweight completely unified again (and stay unified).
