Yes, Lara is hurting the 154 lb division. The only thing Lara isn't hurting is insomniacs.

So basically the question is if lara hurts boxing because his skills can make top fighters look bad? The truth is, Cuban boxers tend to make others look bad because they're so skillful and they're primarily avoided because they can ruin money fighters. Therefore, they'll be called boring as an excuse to avoid the fights. Funny how nobody avoided a mayweather fight because he was also considered "boring". Lara lucked out that he landed a couple of big names. Rigo was avoided by everyone other than donaire and then had to take a risky jump to face Loma and ruined his own career. So in short, fighters would prefer to duck guys like lara and rigo for fear of being out boxed and messing up bigger money fights.

i hope the winner fights castaño so they can unify the WBA belt. brian is a tremendous talent and with his style none of his fight will be boring

Lara is the only current top 154 fighter that has been in a fight of the year candidate, which is a pretty glaring omission in this article.
People are excited about this Hurd match up exactly because of that Angulo fight. I'm not saying that fact absolutely blows up the article, but not even acknowledging it really hurts the author's central thesis and credibility. A good writer would include it, and perhaps try to find a way to diminish its relevance. But to ignore it is weak.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 04-07-2018, 10:24 AM.

It's crap like this that makes it hard to be a boxing fan. Lara may not be the most entertaining but he's one of the world's best at his job. If tonight comes down to a decision I hope Lara doesn't get the short end of the stick simply because he's boring and people would rather see Hurd vs Charlo. It would be shrewd move that could ruin Lara's legacy as the guy as legitimate chance for the HOF. Let's say he beats Hurd and then goes on go beat a prime Charlo, he should then get some serious HOF consideration especially if he beats another significant opponent. Unfortunately people only care to be entertained and have no respect for skills

Lara's run, hit and hold didn't get him the Williams fight and that marathon he did against Canelo didn't help him either.
His performances are so dull that nobody really wants to see him with all that skill. Only Rigo is more boring at this moment.
