I don't see how giving up your weapon would save lives, given the hundreds of millions in circulation, but okay.

Not for the sake of argument but I was curious if you were open-minded enough to also look into how many lives guns save? Could that sway your opinion on banning ALL guns if it was demonstrated that statistically guns save thousands of lives?

Someone who wants to do harm will use a knife if they have to, a gun in their potential victim's pocket keeps them guessing though.

Whatever the case may be YOU are entitled to your opinion, just as I am. We may disagree but I never said your opinion doesn't matter (like you said to me).

I'm a pro gun white dad but I believe the biggest thing we have as humans is our voice. We can never take that away from anyone. "Speech has allowed the communication of ideas Enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible. Mankind's greatest achievements have come about by talking. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future
With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded
All we need to do is make sure we keep talking" Steven Hawkins in pink Floyds "talking hawkin"

Regardless of whether I agree with what they say, I prefer it when athletes stick to sports, actors stick to acting and musicians stick to making music.

And I do got to say it is very easy to get guns illegally all the laws are doing are making it harder to get legally. How about make laws very severe on illegal guns, buying and selling, and stronger screening on legal guns.

Well if all guns were illegal then eventually the current circulation of weapons would be vastly reduced due to police raids, confiscations etc.

However, like I said before, I believe certain weapons are a viable self defense option, but we should have more strict laws which will prevent those weapons from getting into the hands of those intending to do harm. For example, in California, you are required to lock your firearm in a safe.

Finally, when it comes to saving lives, no opinion matters, only facts do and the facts say that guns in the us have save about 150k lives a year and that we have a murder rate of almost 4 per 100k people a year. We have about 400 million people so that adds up to 16k lives. They also say that the UK, which bans all firearms has a murder rate of 1 per 1 million. That's 65 people a year.

Is that directly attributed to gun violence though and not lack of education, culture of violence, gangs etc.? Would the gangs in the USA still murder if they had no guns?

It is nice to know you acknowledged that guns also save people, I respect you for that.

I do think if police / authority could be properly trusted with protecting innocent lives I'd be more in favor of gun control, but when you waiver your right to self defense under the condition that the state protects you and they fail to do so, then a gun is not only your best friend but a necessity of life.

My views on guns came about through family friends of ours at a very young age. They came from a country that need not be mentioned (it's name has changed since) and they HAD to have guns. They ended up fleeing but the stories and horrors they shared with us never left me.

Women, children, BABIES impaled on sticks while still alive, home invasions where they are tied up, gutted and ****d alive, burned to death etc.

No-one is safe. Young and old, male or female. There is evil in this world and it can't be reasoned with. It's a hard fact of life that some new age young people refuse to accept, but the evil that can't be reasoned with CAN be stopped. Evil doesn't like a bullet between the eyes.

We need to give up our guns so the only people who have them is the police and the criminals who don't bide by the rules, sounds like a great idea.
The 2A is a thing you either like or hate and really If you hate it that much you could always try to move to Canada.

So, how do any of these “laws” prevent criminals from purchasing weapons? The answer is they don’t. So who suffers in the end? Legal gun purchasers...... herein lies the real problem with gun control.
