And for Don Trella to give Nelo round 7 when G clearly won it has me more su****ious of him.
Don Trella was once on the cover of Ring Magazine. Oscar De La Hoya owns Ring Magazine. Don Trella judged G vs. Nelo. Oscar De La Hoya is Nelo’s promoter. Don Trella scored the fight 114-114 and gave the 7th to Nelo.
Corruption. G has to knock this kid out or he loses.
To me the fight is good with a draw but I wouldn't have been upset with either fighter winning by a point.

how about this. dont announce the winner until the next day.. allow the "judges" to rewatch the fight in HD with no commentary. then release their scores on some "breaking news" type sht.
or how about this if a card causes controversy these judges should have a sit down with max kellerman/malignaggi the next weekend and explain their scores. I think even if we disagree with a score like byrd having her explain it would make it less controversial. has she ever said anything about what she favors in a fight? I have never even seen her speak.

In general though I'm not averse at all to the idea of scoring fights by crowd acclamation... despite all the BS on here about 'casuals' and the suchlike, the average fight fan should - in most cases - be able to tell who 'won' a fight. In fact in a populist sport like boxing I'd even go so far as to say that if the majority of casual enthusiast are coming up with a different result from the self- proclaimed 'experts' of the sport, the problem lies with the experts not with the casuals... maybe the rules (or their interpretation) need changing to be in line with what your average Joe (or Jamall) sees when he watches a fight? Just a thought.
The technology is easily available, but the problems lie (to my mind) not so much with individual bias - we're so wrapped up in our petty feuds and **** on here that we may lose sight of the fact that 'normal' fans are neither ****** nor particularly biased in the main - but with finding a system which is at least partially resistant to wholesale manipulation by the dodgy fuckers who have the greatest financial stakes in the sport.
nah, that would turn boxing into a popularity contest
and sorry to appear true-to-form..... but casual fans are fkn hopeless, truly clueless
that fight was difficult to score, and the range of possible good scores was a lot wider than people (especially casuals) seem to realize
the issue was Gennady's inaccuracy/ineffectiveness, combined with Canelo's lethargy..... which made the fight difficult to read at times
..... in a matchup between a pressure fighter vs a boxer..... Byrd (and a lot of old-school judges) will score for the boxer if the pressure fighter is ineffective
while the casuals were scoring for the guy going forward, Byrd noticed that Golovkin wasn't really achieving anything, so she scored for Canelo's defence
if Byrd could not find a reason why those rounds should be scored for Golovkin, maybe Golovkin should ask himself why?
she scored for Canelo's defense/accuracy/better punches, and likely ring-generalship.....
I think she missed a lot of what Golovkin was doing, and under-valued his effectiveness in some of those middle rounds..... but maybe Golovkin could work on being more accurate
Byrd got thrown under a bus for her average effort, which is fair enough..... but one of the other judges scored that fight a draw, and the sole judge who scored for Golovkin awarded him that fight by 1 solitary point
Golovkin needs to work on his accuracy/effectiveness, Canelo needs to up the ante and become more interested during the middle rounds
it should be far easier for those guys to improve than it would be for casual-fans to suddenly and miraculously develop-a-clue

Byrd is not corrupt
if so, she simply would not have scored so widely for Canelo
the difference between Byrd..... and the other two judges, who differed by 1 solitary point..... is a slight change in perception..... that is all
that is why Byrd has been retained
some of those middle rounds were very close
she scored for Canelo, because she could not find a reason not to..... not all of that blame should go to Byrd, and none of it should go to Canelo

Anyway. Food for thought, man.
Who you got tonight in the WBSS?
