Most fight fans want fighters that are equal with each other. I think most boxing fans want this to be an actual SPORT, not a one sided beat down. I watch boxing because I understand the extreme mental and emotional fortitude it takes to be a fighter. I generally want to see 2 fighters who are equal physically, so the 2 other factors decide the fight.

The three exceptions to this in my own mind are:

    1) Often up and comers are in the ring with fighters that are more worn torn as a "step-up" fight that the young lions are expected to win.

    2) A fighter is coming off a long lay-off or an injury.

    3) A fighter is being avoided by the top level fighters in a division and a mismatch is all a fighter can get.

I look at this in the second exception with Garcia looking to test himself from over a year without fighting, so I am okay with it. Rios is not a scrub, and I will be interested. Beyond this? Garcia better be all in and fight top names. He sure is not being avoided and he is a top guy already so I do not see any other excuse for him to not being in with top names. This is his only real mulligan in my opinion.

...meanwhile Danny fights..Brandon Rios?? Who? Is this 2010???

People are hyper critical of Danny bc he's annoying as all hell. He clearly lost to Herrera and Thurman and strong cases can be made for LP and even Zab Judah. He had great wins over Khan and Matthyse, but has done very little since and that's what, five years??

Fans are just tired of his whole act. Thurman is helping him now by selling himself out which takes the spotlight off Danny. Keith "I'm not afraid to take an L" can't fight anyone worth a damn and can't rematch anyone worth a damn.

Both guys are just crazy hype. Crazy, crazy hype
The game plan is for Garcia to beat Rios and Spence to have on more fight and then both meet later this year. Coming from the mouth of SHOWTIME

Thats why EVERYONE thought it was insane that Thurman was gonna come back and fight Vargas. Him or his team finally came to their senses

That's absolutely not true. A lot of people won't watch this mismatch in yet another ****ty fight for Millions for Cherry Garcia. If you support this fight then you're everything that's wrong with boxing and you need to stop being a fan.

The problem with this fight is that we all know Shawn Porter wanted Danny Garcia, and he chose to go with Brandon Rios! It's funny how Brandon Rios got a gift decision over Abril, a loss to Mike Alvarado, but then he gets to fight Pacquiao! He avenges his loss to a washed Alvarado, and then gets to fight Bradley! Now he beats Aaron Hererra, and gets a shot at DSG! How does a mediocre Jr. Welterweight, and lower-tier Welterweight, gets fights with Pacquiao, Bradley, and Danny Garcia?

DSG taking light fights after a loss he felt he won, like he just got knocked tf out or something.

This would have made more since for LP after getting wiped out by Spence, FOH

Paulie is the kind of fighter who verbally sucks off any opponent who has ever beat him (except Broner).

No surprise he would defend Garcia for a weak fight against a shot Rios.

KOs are always fun, but they're not as fun when they're expected during a mismatch.
