Most fight fans want fighters that are equal with each other. I think most boxing fans want this to be an actual SPORT, not a one sided beat down. I watch boxing because I understand the extreme mental and emotional fortitude it takes to be a fighter. I generally want to see 2 fighters who are equal physically, so the 2 other factors decide the fight.

The three exceptions to this in my own mind are:

1) Often up and comers are in the ring with fighters that are more worn torn as a "step-up" fight that the young lions are expected to win.

2) A fighter is coming off a long lay-off or an injury.

3) A fighter is being avoided by the top level fighters in a division and a mismatch is all a fighter can get.

I look at this in the second exception with Garcia looking to test himself from over a year without fighting, so I am okay with it. Rios is not a scrub, and I will be interested. Beyond this? Garcia better be all in and fight top names. He sure is not being avoided and he is a top guy already so I do not see any other excuse for him to not being in with top names. This is his only real mulligan in my opinion.

Even though I agree with what you posted, Garcia has a long history of cherry picking old fighters.

If he was the one that beat Thurman and didn't have a layoff, I wouldn't have been surprised if he fought Rios anyways because his record is basically built on old, past it fighters like Rios or no hopers.

It's a fun fight for sure. Danny is just tasteless. Says Spence and TC need to fight each other before the winner "earns" their shot at him

People are hyper critical of Danny bc he's annoying as all hell. He clearly lost to Herrera and Thurman and strong cases can be made for LP and even Zab Judah. He had great wins over Khan and Matthyse, but has done very little since and that's what, five years??

Fans are just tired of his whole act. Thurman is helping him now by selling himself out which takes the spotlight off Danny. Keith "I'm not afraid to take an L" can't fight anyone worth a damn and can't rematch anyone worth a damn.

I like the fight, I dislike cherry picking garcia!!! But I also understand the logic!!! Boxing is religion in Puerto Rico... which means a great amount of income is generated... There has to be a clown to entertain and take people's money... even if he's just a clown!!! People in the Island love that!!!

After ANOTHER 5 months of holding the title hostage, he takes on guerrero who everyone knew was on the south side of his career. And who had just bearly eaked out a decision against a guy who had been KOed in his previous fight. Smh.*

Then he takes TEN MORE MONTHS OFF, and fights Samuel Vargas, who had been KOed by Spence 4 fights earlier. After getting KOed by Spence, Vargas fights 3 tomato cans, and THAT'S who the WBC champ decides to fight???? After taking 10 months off???? Smh

Then, FINALLY, after nearly FOUR years of holding the WBC belt(s) hostage, and really fighting no one of note, he fights an actual threat in Thurman. And thank the boxing gods, he loses.*

Like I said earlier, had he won, after another 8 month layoff, he would have another B rated fighter lined up. Milking that title, waiting for the next big payday. Pfffttt!

And I wouldn't call him 100% cherry picker, but when you combine the LONG LAYOFFS, only to come back and fight a soft touch, I and most fans say Garcia is full of that BS.

And the only thing that was wrong about my post above, is that Garcia was going to line up another BS fight, weather he beat Thurman or not.

I can't wait till Spence beats that a s s!! : )
