FIGHT NOTEBOOK --- World champion Miguel Cotto has returned home to Caguas, Puerto Rico....Cotto said the bruising title fight went 12 hard rounds on Saturday night "because we were both physically prepared to go the distance." Cotto said challenger Paulie Malignaggi was "very brave."....Malignaggi, just after the fight, went over to Cotto and said 'no hard feelings.'  The two tapped gloves and Cotto said "don't worry about it..."

Reading the variation of rounds given to each fighter, pretty much shows how close the fight was.~

I had it 114-113 for Cotto, he won by a knockdown.

Ive watched the fight 3 times, and I gave Paulie 3 rounds, 4 at the most plus the fact that he got knocked down.....

116-111, or 117-110, 115-112 is understandable but 114-113??? how do you justify that???

I scored it 115-112 but I admit it was a harder fight to score, much harder than the Hatton fight which I felt was black and white. I can see how someone could score it 116-111 or 114-113 because two round really could have gone either way IMO. You have score rounds which have no knockdown and no clear daze as who landed more clean punches, not how their face looks.

117-110 or Malignaggi winning is sick, noone should score a fight like that. Also I think the 2 judges who scored the fight at 116-111 shouldn't judge fights any longer because it wasn't that onesided. I can see how a avid fan could score that but not a judge. But thats just my opinion. Cotto clearly won but didnt dominate Malignaggi.

Cotto 115-112 he would have won without the knockdown.

IMO Paulie won 4,5 and 9, he could have won round 1. therefore 3 or 4 rounds hence 117-110 or 116-111.

The ref should have warned Paulie about Holding, the holding in the Later rounds was excessive.
