PFT my ass, you don't know for sure what Paulie weighed on fight night, but you can look at them and tell there's huge difference
(think Gatti) between the two of them. I said 10 or 15 lbs., Paulie could have weighed 144 and Cotto 155, but regardless, there was still a quite noticeable difference in size. Don't get mad just because I didn't agree with the comment that Cotto outboxed the boxer, it just wasn't true. How come you don't stop trying to hype Cotto's every move and see him for what he is, a good, solid fighter with a questionable chin that has always been bigger and stronger than his opponents, and if he fights at 147 where he belongs, then let's see what happens when he doesn't have the size advantage anymore. Cotto also got the benefit of an early weigh in, and it's common knowledge that he had trouble making weight, PFT!

But Cotto isn't a natural 140 pounder, he walks around at 160-165

Either way, I thought it was a really good fight, and a really close fight, too. Had there been no knockdown, I'd probably be in favor of a draw, maybe a win for Malinaggie. I was very impressed by him throughout the whole thing.

What do you guys think of this as a FOY candidate? I haven't read any of the other threads, as I just saw the fight today, so....

A win for Paulie?? No way. He won 4 rounds at the most. And THATS even debateable. I dont think this is a canidate for fight of the year, but it was a damn good one.

Reading the variation of rounds given to each fighter, pretty much shows how close the fight was.~

I had it 114-113 for Cotto, he won by a knockdown.

A win for Paulie is stretching it.

But you could easily give 5 rounds to Paulie.

Yeah some rounds were tough to score because they both sometimes appeared to land equally in exchanges, even though Cotto's were clearly having the greater effect.

Cotto's singular hard punches basically matched Paulies flurries, which is why it was so hard to pick the early rounds.
