It would have meant something if he took on Porter and Garcia in the same year but he didn't. He fought Porter in 2016 and that fight kept getting pushed back because of Thurman. He didn't fight again in 2016 claiming he had to recover from the fight and fights Garcia in 2017. After the Garcia fight he claims another injury and doesn't fight again. Garcia just fought once in 2017 but chose not to fight because he was working on his businesses outside the ring. Thurman on the other hand says he doesn't have the fire in him like Spence does. The best thing would be for Vargas to beat Spence so Thurman wouldn't be holding those belts hostage. The WBA had to create another belt at WW and now Mathysse is fighting for it.

How many fighters are fighting 2 of the best opponents in their respective divisions in one year? Certainly not Charlo, Canelo, Stevenson, Davis, Russell Jr., Lara, Ramirez, Beterbiev, Wilder, or several others. Even Floyd never fought two of a divisions best fighters inside of one year. So why the double standard on Thurman?

None of the top guys at WW want to fight Spence. Not Thurman, not Porter, not Garcia...And TC might fight him but I doubt Bob let's that happen. #TheBoogieMan

Porter don't want to fight Spence. He has said himself he rather fight Thurman and Garcia before Spence. He could have had his chance to fight Spence for the title but doesn't want it.

What a bunch of haters in this thread. Thurman is coming off a long layoff where he got married, and was injured, and he is still taking on Vargas, a top contender. Don't worry haters, Spence will get his shot sooner than later.

not too long ago thurman was in spences shoes. calling out the "names" in his division. he was also avoided heavily by guys like maidana, bradley, paulie and yes even floyd ducked thurman (he was mandatory for two years).. thurman figured this is just part of the game. so hes making Spence wait just like he did. im guessing his thinking is "why should I rush a fight with spence when none of the guys I called out rushed a fight with me".

thurman got a taste of the business/politics side of the game and now hes giving spence a dose of it. personally I dont believe for one second thurman is scared. he fought porter and garcia bacl to back, get real. its simply him putting on that business man hat.

fans criticize any boxer who does that because we know these guys only fight maybe twice a year so fans got no patience for marinating. but when its a boxer you like that does it all of the sudden you understand..

Just keep collecting the other belts and scoring KOs.
As long as Spence fights 3 to 4 Times a year and good competition he will be alright.
They will only be able to duck for so long

Thurmans isnt even the best fighter at 147 and he acts like he is mayweather lol. He still has lot of proving to do and Spence is the perfect foe this year. Not end of this year or fkin early next year.
