then for sure the lineal champ is now AJ cuz fury is and has been out of the picture for 2 years.
any way u wanta slice it the closest thing we got to the HW champ is joshua.
wilder is my favorite, so im hopin hearn lets him have a crack at AJ asap.
and yea the ring is VERY compromised. they often do not follow ther own ratings policy when naming champions. alvarez is the most egregious case of giving a boxer the championship without his meeting the criteria.
Golden Boy Promotions purchased Ring Magazine ten years ago and has slowly ruined it ever since. Originally it was promised that they would not interfere with the editorial process, but that has been repeatedly exposed as a lie as journalist after journalist has quit in disgust and revealed Golden Boy's interference.
Since that time, the championship policy has been radically changed to allow Golden Boy extreme leeway in crowning and stripping champions to benefit HBO and hinder Showtime. The rules of the Ring title, which are selectively and corruptly enforced, make it very clear that lineal has nothing to do with it at this point.
A lineal title vacancy can only be filled by #1 fighting #2. However, a Ring title vacancy can be filled by #2 fighting #5.
A lineal champion can't be stripped for not fighting arbitrary "mandatory" challengers, a Ring champion can and has been stripped for not fulfilling Ring's arbitrary mandatory obligations (although only SHO fighters have been stripped in this manner, HBO fighters have not).
I trust their rankings a hell a lot more than the Alphabet belts. What rankings dont you approve of???
Good win for Charr & the WBA is one step closer to getting rid of it's regular champion. Now just get the Oquendo fight out of the way & we are finally rid of him as a contender. Duhaupas, Povetkin & Breidis have all got to be keeping their eye on Charr. All 3 have a win over him.
