Ring's rankings are a better reflection of world boxing than the rankings of one individual organization because each individual sanctioning body only ranks the contenders who are specifically pursuing their title. When fans look at alphabet rankings, they need to realize the WBA or WBO or any other sanctioning body is ranking the fighters currently pursuing their title, not the entire world of boxing.

But just because Ring's rankings better reflect the overall sport than the rankings of an individual body doesn't change the fact that Ring is literally owned by Golden Boy Promotions and when Golden Boy was caught interfering with the rankings, several members of the rankings advisory board quit in disgust and created the TBRB.

There's no reason at this point to continue to point to Ring when TBRB is simply Ring without the corruption. It's the same people that were doing the Ring rankings before Golden Boy ruined Ring and TBRB continues to be faithful to the rules of the lineal title whereas Ring makes up the rules as they go along now.

The problem is that Ring has existed forever and TBRB is new, so it's taking time for fans to become educated about the truth. Especially when so many of them relied on Ring to be the arbiter of truth for so long.

I didn't realise this fight was for a belt lol.

Charr just got himself a big payday. Think he would be a good comeback fight for Fury. We'll see.

Also, Charr is the first Arab HW belt holder ever now, isn't he? Lmao good for him.

IBF, WBA, and WBC all have come to an agreement to rotate their mandatory challengers, and the WBA has the next mandatory due (the Takam fight settled the IBF's mandatory).

Still, money is money; the Charr-Oquendo winner will likely have to wait for the Wilder-Joshua fights (this summer and a rematch, likely for around Super Bowl time 2019) and that could be a while.

If a promoter puts up enough money, for the Charr/Oquendo winner to fight an "easy mark" while they wait, we may see some movement.

Kinda think that the WBA themselves would push for a 'unification' before any rematch between Wilder/Joshua/Parker on the grounds that technically speaking Wilder/Joshua/Parker wouldn't be the true unified heavyweight champion with this one erroneous nonsense belt still hanging around. Plus as you said they are next due so if it's only unifications before that happens then they are still in their correct slot.

                http://www.tbrb.org/

When Arum lost control of the WBA, he went public about all of the bribes he'd been paying to Pepe Cordero.

                Arum said:

"There's one bagman in the WBA and that's Pepe Cordero. And any time you want a fix in the WBA you bribe Cordero and he takes care of it... You have to give him money."

After the WBA blackballed Cordero for being exposed by Arum, Cordero founded the WBO. Which Arum now works with nearly exclusively.

When Arum lost control of the WBA, he began bribing the IBF and got caught doing it (unlike when he voluntarily confessed to his WBA bribery).

Even Ring magazine was caught taking bribes, leading to the cancellation of Don King's boxing tournament on ABC.

In all of this, the only group without a bribery scandal is the WBC, as the WBC, despite a history of playing favorites, would never actually take cash for rankings the way the WBA, IBF, Ring and WBO would. Sulaiman was independently wealthy and as a point of pride, refused to accept bribes.
