Would Mayweather Still Be Considered Great If He Had a Loss?

Because he implied he didn't wait for him to fade when he did.
I just said this in my last post. Did you read it?
Yes Leonard gets full credit for beating Halger but that doesn't change the fact he didn't want to fight him until he saw weakness.Comment

he didn't imply anything, he said hagler was not knocked out...just because he lost a step in between mugabi and sugar, doesn't mean he was faded...
he got a ud vs duran, ko'd hearns in 3, and ko'd mugabi in 11...two atg's in there to boot...did he lose a step, yeah, but completely faded? you're exaggerating...
if he was completely faded, srl would have demolished him...Last edited by djtmal; 10-26-2017, 03:02 PM.Comment

His current fan base wouldn't exist and he would have lost his marketability. He would have probably been forced to face top fighters in their primes at their best weights. I think he would have been fine in a resume sense and perhaps been top 30 all-time so I actually think it would have been better for his legacy worse for his bank balance.
Had the Castillo I decision been correct that's what I think would have happened. Lets just say everything (in the ring and opponents and fights) is the same and he's just 49-1 now I think again he wouldn't have the same fans and he wouldn't be talked about nearly as much or be considered so highly all-time. His fights were often considered very boring to most so he wouldn't be revered in the way other modern greats are. His whole career was based on riding out that "0" and protecting it. He did a great job at it but unfortunately didn't truly test his greatness to a satisfactory level on a consistent enough basis.Last edited by chrisJS; 10-26-2017, 03:10 PM.Comment
